One good thing about Gomez (if it is him, finally). We can be certain that City (and specifically Pep) will have been briefed pretty thoroughly about him by Vin.
On the subject of Vinny, I was seriously impressed with Burnley during the season opener. You could see the DNA of City the way they played.

In this respect, if Vinny's talked this kid up & recommended him, that's good enough for me...

Isn't the definition of an ideal loan scenario one in which you are buying promising players at positions of need on the relative low end feeling maybe they aren't quite ready for the team?

If Wilson-Esbrand is ready for the team (as in, stepping in for a three week period of injury to Cancelo) then I don't really see the point of buying Gomez. If Gomez is considered to be ready for the team, and Wilson-Esbrand isn't for the scenario I've just outlined, I don't see the point of loaning him out. We need him, or any other decent full back, here, not in Girona.
Of course, if João doesn't get injured, then we're fine. If he does get injured, then we're fairly fucked. If Walker gets injured for several weeks and João has to revert to the right, then again, we're fairly fucked. Pep's optimism is admirable, but I'm not particularly convinced by it. Not in this case. In any case, I'm tired of us just ‘getting by’ for this one position. Zin did a decent job but an inevitably limited one as far as defending was concerned. In any case, without wishing to rehash that argument, he's gone. Wilson-Esbrand, I believe, has not played a single full game for the senior team yet. As I remember, he's got some minutes in the early rounds of cup games under his belt.
And Aké? At present, he seems to be needed elsewhere (and a good job he's doing of it, too…)

No offence to Fabian Delph as he is a proper bloke, but he was never in anyones wildest dreams a left back, yet Pep made him into one. If we get this lad from Belgium, who apparently is a natural left back, I would back Pep to make him very good in a short amount of time

since the start of the summer I've been saying here that Cucurella is City's only left back target and now Jack Gaughans tweet confirms it. They are now trying to look and find someone and thats just bad planning .. I dont think they will sign anyone but Sergio Gomez which makes the left back position weaker than last season. I highly rate Zinchenko and never wanted him to leave!

do not spread misinformation he said we don't have a new no1 target, not that we have no scouted option.

I doubt we are looking around for one in that sense.
City - along with all the other top clubs (not the rags clearly) - will have detailed scouting reports on hundreds of players in each position from all over the world.
The job now is to work out which of them are available and then which of the available ones would be the best fit for what we are looking for.

No I understood it differently. City still want a LB but obviously pondering over best deal. There are options Sosa, grimaldo etc

You should use this as part of your presentation to get on the acquisition/scouting team, as you clearly know you’re onions! I think you'll get fair remuneration… at the 1st meeting, you should advocate for this radical thinking! ..hey, world class scouting network, let’s look at more than 1 player!

The left back market is awful tbf. Still don't know why we're not looking at Gaya. Only 27 and is an awful situation at Valencia.

Agreed mate - he’d be my clear first choice, and got my vote in the Poll above.

I thought there were some stories flying around about him not wanting to leave Spain - but if he’s open to the change, I’d be delighted with him in our team.
