I think it's a hangover from the covid loss of revenue, followed up by UEFA FFP.

They have no money to spend, and I also think rodgers has run out ideas, and probably enthusiasm too.

Rodgers did so well with Liverpool but then ran out of ideas, earning him the sack. I suspect he's one of those managers who the players just stop listening to after a while.
