Leicester (H) Post-Match Thread

Excellent performance, reminded me a little of the Dippers home game last season full intensity and passion and no little skill. Mahrez had his best game in a City shirt and KDB supreme again. Everyone played well absolutely buzzing, league has gone but a lot to play for.
Withnail and I..... agree.

Sorry couldn't resist that. ;-)

Thought we were terrific today - Bernardos energy in midfield made a massive difference too.

No slight on David who’s arguably been our best midfielder ever but we definitely look more energetic over the last 2 games. Dominated both of them and Leicester actually have some really decent midfielders. Either bernardo or foden have to play in there from now on.

Mendy was also great and hopefully this is the start of his return to form.

why didnt gabby really celebrate when he scored? thought he had hurt himself at first

Or that when the ball goes to him it either gets coughed up easily or he runs 40 yards backwards and plays a hospital ball to a centre half?

He is one of our most talented players and we need to get more out of him around the opposition penalty area
Perhaps you've highlighted the issue that he's receiving the ball too deep

We used him properly today and that was vs one of the supposed best full backs in the Premier League

And a special shout out for Mendy today
He looked like the player we thought we'd bought

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to watch the game live so have just watched it.

The first thing I have to say is Pep did it again. Every game he does something unexpected and today he set us up in something like a 2 4 2 2 formation which was absolutely brilliant.

I think this was as good as we have played this season. Leicester are a good team and they didn’t play badly but we were simply superior all over the pitch.

KDB was unplayable again. Mahrez, Bernie, Mendy and Gundogan were all excellent. Everyone played well although Sterling was again not at the level we have come to expect from him and Fernandinho struggled mire than a few times in one on ones with Vardy.

if it hadn’t have been for Schmeichel and the Leicester centre backs who were great we could have had a hatful again today.

When we play like this it makes the four losses, especially the ones against Norwich and the Rags, all the more frustrating. The season could and should have been so different.

Btw, what was with Lee Dixon (who I really like) ? He was whining for about 20 minutes about Leicester should have had a penalty. What the hell for. That was never a foul by Eddie on Barnes.

Gundogan - what a Rolls Royce of a player!
He had a good game for the majority, a really good game in fact. However his lack of pace, intensity and aggression cost us their goal, he should have been busting a gut to stop their player releasing Vardy, but just seemed to wander across and stop 2-3 yards short which gave him time and space to pick out the pass.

His control, movement and weight of passing in that holding role is a joy to watch though, he really benefitted from having Bernardo in there with him.

That's what it's about. Trophies are nice, but watching great football week in week out throughout the season, is the game for me.
2 days after any trophy and it's about the next one or next season. We know we have not been that good, in certain games, but we should
all remember how fucking good these players and team are. Sadly there are many amongst us, who choose to ignore this and have a childish
strop every time something doesn't go our way and resort to puerile abuse of players.

Really enjoyed the game today. I sit in CB3 in line with the 18 yard line at the south stand end..

It's a great view, you can see the play unfolding all over the pitch..

Everyone contributed today and when we click it's mesmerising to watch..

To be fair, it was a great pass by Barnes to Vardy who just had too much pace for Fernandinho. He actually got a bit lucky when the ball bobbled and allowed him to chip Eddie but it was a great finish. Sometimes you just have to say great goal and don’t look for someone to blame.

Mahrez was great today. Hopefully he can get some consistency now

It was a great bit of movement from Vardy. He set off running at just the right moment and their man found him with a great pass. I thought it was a superb goal from Vardy that. No blame for that one.

The change to an almost 4-2-3-1 has breathed fresh air in to de bruyne. He’s free to run and attack with the left cm (Bernardo today) sitting deeper and providing cover with gundogan/Rodri. A slight tweak by pep that is working brilliantly.

also, how fired up was pep today. Great to see.

Great to see bernardo and mendy back to form today, gundogan , walker and mahrez were excellent too. Kdb very close to being back to his best again. Just heard pep moaning about our support again, i didn't think it was bad today, it's that bloody tunnel club area again I'd say.

Our best performance of the season , every single player at their potential , if it had been 9-0 Brendan could'nt have complained , maybe we have got our mojo back. We play football other clubs can only dream of , a twenty game winning streak would make it interesting , i think we managed 18 not long ago :)

Oh no credit were it's due to Barnes but equally Gundogan was at fault, every man pressed high and he hesitated, which you just can't do when they have Vardy. Like Pep said in his interview playing such a high risk, high press needs everyones buy in and Gundogan occasionally, just lacks that bite. Even if Ferny had a motorbike I don't think he'd have caught him.

It doesn't change the fact he had a damn good game though, it was just the one costly mistake.
