Leicester (N) - Community Shield | Post-Match Thread

This flag business……. I’m sure Wembley organise this…… my take on it is some idiot at City failed to tick the box on the booking form marked Do you want a flag/seat …no doubt the FA charge for this piece of tack you get and that’s why they prohibit taking your own

Didn't
I don't need to wipe anything thanks but as I said in my earlier post and this one I expected the usual responses similar to that.

I was also aware of all the complexities and difficulties surrounding our team selection, my post wasn't about any of that. My post is about Leicester as a club providing flags that added to the atmosphere, giving their fans something, while we didn't. Also why was it an "event" for Leicester and their fans but not for us? I'm sure due to the availability of tickets lots of kids were attending their first game at Wembley, was it not the biggest event of their young lives?

No City as a club are starting to alienate the fans. Whether this is a deliberate decision taken by a new person at the helm in these matters or inadvertently I have no idea, but it's happening. From forcing this bloody ticket on the phones idea to no flags at Wembley for the fans, it smacks of we don't care either about you or what you think, you take it or leave it. We're the richest club in the world everyone is constantly telling us, but they couldn't provide a few cheap plastic flags for the hardy souls who went to great expense and trouble to go down there and support a scratch side in what you say is a glorified friendly. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth and no "Wipe your fanny" type of comments will change that opinion so save them

Didn't you get the email, you had to download the flag on your phone, then wave your phone

I still don’t like it being in LONDON with a stupid after 5pm KO.
It should be in the midlands, at lunchtime, giving everyone time to get there either by train or other means. Plus allowing them to get home again post match. I looked at going, but wouldn’t have been able to get a train back until the next day.
Pathetic.
It should be played on a rota, at the champions ground one season, cup winners the next.

It was a good day out, a good drink, nice to see lots of familiar faces, good to have a beer with the lads and the bus home was like a zoo, i think the excitement of actually doing something normal took its toll and there were casualties early doors. I am defo short of match practice, but used my experience to see it through whilst some of the younger ones flagged and there was a lot of sleepers on the way back.

I have never seen as many police at a UK game before, I was talking to a Police sergeant near Wembley Park tube and he said , we fucked up for the England game and there was no way it was happening again, which meant there was massive presence, but most of them were sat in vans doing fuck all. The stewards were fucking useless mind, lots of them but never had to show my covid pass or even get searched, just walked in and they didn't even check my ticket (i am spacker mind and was ushered to the spacker entrance despite having a non spacker ticket) Perhaps because there was not that many there they were more relaxed or perhaps they didnt give a fuck because there were so many police there.

As for the game, it was a decent warm up match, not reading anything into it. I thought Ake and Mendy did well, Ake got a suicide pass for the goal and it happens, but i rate Ake, he is a proper defender. The kids did OK and it was good to see some game time for the new wonderkid Jack, who seemed bright. We do look short of fitness and it could well be damage limitation early in the season. I think though if look at last season when we started horribly we pulled it back and other teams will be in the same mould as us.

The Leicester fans seemed a decent bunch, enjoyed their day , nothing at all like those dicks from Villa or the rag cunts for that matter.

It was good just to actually go to the game, that was the most important thing for me, seeing people smile and having a good time irrespective of the result.

Was anyone COVID checked? We weren’t asked and it wasn’t busy when we went into the ground
Not me. I saw no evidence of covid checks or the usual bag checking in my Block E. There were lots of stewards and especially police after the game who evidently didn't want a repeat of the Euro Final. All the fans I came across from both teams were good natured in the stadium and along Wembley Way.
Unlike the Euro final I was happy get home without getting pinged!
Happy days Blues.

Waaaaah! Didn’t get my free flag. City taking me for granted!

What a load of bollocks!

While he’s wiping his fanny can you wind your fucking neck in? He is right that the lack of flags at our end detracted from the atmosphere, and he is within his rights to say it
Bollocks!
”Lack of flags ‘distracted’ from the atmosphere”??
Within what rights?? His right to free tat?!
GMAFB!

Fucking entitlement mentality run amok! Fuck knows what we did for “atmosphere” before cheap nylon flags became a “right”!!
Gonna need to order about 50,000 of them for 19 home games this year, not to mention about 5,000 for the 19 away games, just so we can generate some “undistracted atmosphere!”

Am I the only one who thinks the plastic flags they give out at Wembley are completely naff anyway?

They're generic and don't make the end look good (in fact I'd say it makes it look worse because it's so orchestrated). It's better if fans hold their scarves or individual/personal flags rather than the mass-printed shite.

It's also awful for the environment when you get 90k unrecyclable, plastic flags that inevitably end up being burnt in a Malaysian landfill.

Buy your own flag and take it to every game with you if you want to improve the atmosphere (that's what I do lol).

I've got a shed full from all the Wembley trips and if it ever catches fire will probably take half the street with it.
