Their cup final, our pre-season game.

Nice to win it, we were the better team, but not that arsed really.

Shame for Ake as he had been pretty faultless, but tired legs did for him there.

With the way he kept slipping in Bernardo, Grealish is going to love playing with Foden on the left.
 
Very good game for a Community Shield I thought, Genuinely wasn't expecting much with the players we have missing
Leicester at full strenght too. We were actually better in the second half than we were the first, We had a few half chances but players snatching at it.
The penalty was piss poor, Ake holding onto the ball far too long like he had been doing most of the game really and that time he got pounced on.
Nice to have more players back next week for the Tottenham game.
 
Those are a fair few of the players who’ve actually had a pre-season and they looked very unfit, so fuck knows what the other players who haven’t had a pre-season will be like in the first few weeks of the season.

Thought Cancelo and Mahrez were bloody awful, the two young lads who started were scruffy in their play but harsh to criticise them as they did actually play better than the first two I mentioned.

Stefan Dias and Gundo all played well.

But fuck me we looked unfit!
 
On balance, Leicester just about deserved that. It’s a pity to lose to an 88th minute penalty though.

Looking at the Leicester player’s celebrations I’m pretty sure they’ve just won the league again. Bit over the top for winning a friendly game.
 
Played OK with no injuries.
However Mendy and Fernandinho very slow and cause us a lot of problems at times.
 
Nice to see some of the kids getting a run out today, but by god, thank god Ake is nowhere near our starting XI for the season
 
Glad I didn't waste a day out on that. Pep wasn't bothered from the line-up and neither was the team.
 
We could have won it but you cant make a mistake like that.

For Ake this season is huge given last one he was injured a lot and played lot less than he imagined. but to kick off this season with a mistake like this costing us at least the pen shootout Pep might remember this later on. Imo if we kept Garcia Ake could have been still 5th choice.

fair play to Leicester, good win for them.

Mahrez going on clear and fluffed his chance instead of get it in target, or get a pen or get a red for them is also criminal mistake imo.

PL start for us will be really difficult, we are weeks behind from our best, players very late to be back, and the fixture list PL drawn for us is pretty fuckin hard compared to our rivals first 8 games or so.

Their subs made better effect on the game, Kelechi, Daka made them more dangerous.

A nothing game.

Fern was completely off the boil. Ake apart from the mistake did ok but ultimately that passage of play cost us the shield. Cancelo not great either.

We need more firepower. With the players we have we should not be missing so many chances.

On a positive, few young lads got a run out and Jack got few mins.

Overall we did not win because we are not clinical.
 
First really competitive game, 1st team not even together yet. Top 4 teams all in same boat... No. Worries. Whatsoever. Steffen looked great stopping shots and the kids need to go out on loan. Worthwhile exercise in the end.
