Are we going balls deep for Gabriel Jesus because Sané is not coming, or were we going to go for both regardless? That's the million dollar question for me. Earlier I felt that Pep's comments could be taken with a pinch of salt, but now I'm not sure any more. I really didn't expect us to be after so many attackers this summer. I was expecting central midfielders and defenders galore!

I think initially we went after lots of players to make sure we will land someone (rare any club could land all its targes) but then all the people we approached wanted to come because of Pep

I doubt we'll get both of them for a million dollars. Sané maybe!

;-)

I'm wondering if we are building two teams long term. One for the Prem & one for the Champions League. These are all U21 as regards the Prem. If we also supplement the squad with academy players then we have a potentially huge squad. People always go on about Pep liking to work with small squads, but he can't here. It's not possible in the Prem & he's not stupid.

We can have a squad made up of the more experienced players plus a bunch of kids in the Premier League, then initially just register one or two of the new signed kids in the Champs League. Then when the older players move on, some of these kids replace them as senior players & more kids take up the U21 places.

Just an idea. But it would explain why so many in similar roles.

SPORT BILD reporting we made a 43mil euro offer on Friday......Schalke want 50mil euros, plus bonuses...

Sané-out clause lower than previously known!

Starlet Leroy Sané would leave Schalke this summer, the Royal Blues want to let her jewel gild royally at a finish. In poker, to the national team it was said previously, that Sané could leave for the uncommitted transfer fee of 37 million euros to the club in the coming year. SPORT BILD found but: The opt-out is lower than previously! The 20-year-old would have in the summer 2017 "only" 34 million euros.

The lower figure also plays the amount of the transfer request for a change already in the current transfer window an important role. Schalke wants 50 million euros plus X, because the club managers is worth at least 16 million euros for another season of Sané in S04 jersey. "We are changing match, when the conditions are OK," manager Heidel had recently expressed.
The first offer of prospective Manchester City, who had first made contact with Schalke last Friday by phone and e-mail, was 43 million euros.
