Despite us witnessing a period of great football and success since Mancini took over, the one thing we have been lacking is genuine pace, skill and width.
Both Mancini and Pellegrini (in his first season) relied on width from the full backs and allowed the wide midfielders in Nasri and Silva to cut inside.
IMO, their set up is part of the reason why the likes of Johnson, Navas and Sterling have not been as effective as they should have been here.
In Pep though we have a gaffa who utilises pacy wide players to their maximum.
One of the great sights in football is watching a winger leave the full back for dead and score a goal or assist.
It certainly is an exciting time for Sterling, Sane, Noltio and Moreno, Jesus and Roberts in the not to distant future.
With the likes of KDB, Silva, Gundogan and Toure feeding them through, they should all be reaching double figure in goals and assists.
