I'm sorry to disturb the romantic memories of 2018 and the second we all gone mad when he scored vs dippers,
but in a more realistic and 2023 view Leroy AGAIN had a very let's say mixed season. Inconsistent throughout the 4 Bayern years, with a very low level of resilience. That's no news.
Hasn't the pace and power of pre ACL, sadly. More reluctant.
Bayern fans would carry him back to City. Germany fans feel the same disappointment again and again.
This ship has sailed. Pep knows him inside out. Pep doesn't want to put an arm around players and pamper them, nor be their mum. Pep even doesn't feel responsible for the player's motivation - he expects a top attitude as the first point on the check list.
Pep hasn't been able to get the best level out of Leroy that talentwise is in him, like Kovac, Flick, Nagelsmann and Low. Hoping for the big change is not based on facts, it must be something else. Tuchel will hate Leroy's body language, that's for sure.
If we really are in the position that Leroy would be the only available alternative replacing Mahrez (who I would keep in that case) we would be in some shite. I trust Txiki and Pep to come up with a better solution going forward, not 2 steps back.
Added to that, he wouldn't even be 'cheap'. Hoeness wouldn't want to let Leroy leave, he brought him to Bayern. €60m minimum IMO.
