Has an air of confidence about him now & also the workrate has gone up considerably from his early peformances, when he was a bit half arsed.
If we had started & played through the season with him, GJ & Vinny, 100% fit, I don't think we would be behind Chelsea now.
If we can just find some world class defenders, the future, with these lads plus the academy kids, looks absolutely awesome.
And there is a thread slating Txiki for not finding players.
Totally agree, all eyes were on Kompany and Jesus but Sane was absolute class. You can see Jesus and Sane completely destroying teams together, they were definitely on the same level. Jesus' workrate was was contagious. Sane was sprinting from one side of the pitch to the other, Sterling was pressing, Delph was pressing. What Jesus did that I noticed an instant reaction to, was when pressing, he was looking at his teammates and gesticulating to get them to press as well. The Silva, De Bruyne, Yaya combo can’t/wont do that for 90 minutes. With Delph in there we had someone not only willing to, but also getting back as soon as the ball was lost. As you say, there’s been a lot of criticism of Txiki and Delph is definitely not a world class midfielder, but in Silva, De Bruyne and Yaya we have three world class players and to get the best out of them and the team Delph was a great addition on his first start in donkeys.
I’m hoping that Jesus continues to inspire and motivate the rest of the team. It’s exactly what a few have been talking about in reference to younger players. Get one in there and they lift the crowd, they have hunger to chase for every ball and they inspire others to do so too. That lifts the team to a higher level and as a team we have lacked that intensity at times. We don’t go to Real Madrid in the second leg of a CL semi-final with Jesus on the pitch and roll over the way we did last season that’s for sure. If Sterling can catch some of his confidence then Sane, Sterling, Jesus will be some frightening proposition for opposing teams. Sane was class, seems to be able to run full pelt with the ball stuck to his feet. The future.
