Lescott Debut

Impressed, overall. Seemed to settle into it as the game wore on. There were a few odd spots where he seemed to have took his eye off the ball, but I'm sure these will be ironed out in time.

You can see, straight away, how he keeps popping up with goals at corners, he's got a funny stop-go movement thing going on, and you could see him trying to give Mica some tips at one point. We need to get more of these types of goals, and I think he'll be invaluable in that respect, even if it's not actually him getting on the end of them- he helped give Palace something to worry about outside the 6 yard box, and perhaps that helped Tevez find space next to the keeper.

Even with my limited understanding of the game I thought Lescott settled down quickly and looked really good in the second half to develop an understanding with the players around him so quickly was good. He kept dropping into the left back position when Bridge pushed up and that allowed Bridge to show us what he could do

I agree totally! After what Lescott's been through in the last month or so he did well considering he's had very little training and was thrown in at the deep end. MH showed some balls playing Lescott tonight and I fully expect him to get better once he settles in at the club properly.

I can't believe those who expected miracles from Lescott tonight all recent things considered. Just be grateful he did ok and we won and kept a clean sheet. We've got a new team and the eyes of the world are upon us waiting for us to crash. We would have lost this one last season and inspite of all the money we've spent, it's going to take time for the team to gel and settle into a pattern.

Exactly!

120m spent in 2 months, yet i feel worried when we play lower league teams still. More confident for the Derby away, than these games lol

1 they will put 11 behind the ball hard to brake down
2 they will kick us more

better teams like the top 4 etc will play football

While I agree with this to an extent, ie Arsenal, remember that our less fortunate brethren did the opposite last year, kicking Sweep to pieces, and I fear this year it may be worse.

Yeah i do, i don't see how it should effect him. Fair enough if he was coming back from an injury or something so he wasn't match fit but he would have had a full pre season under his belt - it was only recently Moyes decided to be a bit of an arsehole with him. I think he had a shocking first half for sure - and because of that i just looked to nitpick at anything he did wrong in the second, so i'll be honest he may well have improved but for certain he was terrible first half and not worth a fraction of the reported £24 million price tag.

I just feel someone people are jumping to his defence as he is new. I'm not slating him for nothing, he did have a very poor start to a game, and he is a premiership footballer so missing the little training he has should not make him play that poor. It's not all to do with how he played as a team - just as a single player him self. Like i said, i never rated him in the first place but that isn't the reason i am slating him.

I'm slating him rightfully because he played shite. If he player better next game or even improves then that will be the comment i have on him then. No i'm not a 12 year old nor would i say i know little about football - he just played very poor first half.

QED!

Right picture this you work for one firm then move to another doing a similar role with minimal training you are left to it think you would cope straight away???? Or do you think you would realise your new employer does things slightly differently so you will need those around you to guide you through?????? The very fact he had a good second half was a credit to him picking it up so quickly

Out of interest, is English your second language?

You are one fickle young man, you don't like him so you are going to nitpick him as a result?

It was his debut for god sake! Id like to see you perform in your first day at work with no training, regardless of the job. Lescott played brilliantly considering the circumstance.

Shocking! Everyone sees things a little different, but were you reading the game using braille?
