its become a bit of a chore this waiting around, although i do give a tupenny toss that we get him, he is what we need. and we also weaken another rival team. cant see it being much longer now tho.

I don't know about weakening Everton if we get Lescott, £22m will buy a decent replacement & leave money for other players

How can people be wound up by this today?

IT'S MATCHDAY!!!
It's easy to get wound up by the pathetic reporting of our club, and others, which take their readers for mugs.

Instead of making transfer news up, the papers would be better off expressing an opinion of teams shortcomings etc

Yeh, but not today, were gonna win 17-1!

I'll settle for 1-0. Too much confidence. It's early days and the team may not be as sharp as they can be, not to mention tired after overseas travel. Not good preparation

As expected, not least because the player/manager relationship broke down completely at Goodison Park, Joleon Lescott will be a Manchester City player by Wednesday at the latest. Monday should see the terms agreed between Everton and Manchester City involving a fee in excess of £20,000,000. Personal terms and a medical should then follow on Tuesday with an official announcement expected late Tuesday/early Wednesday.

This will then complete the summer transfer campaign which will go down as the most siccessful in the history of the club, involving spending in excess of £120,000,000.

Not since Joe Mercer signed Mike Summerbee from Swindon Town for £35,000 in 1965, Colin Bell from Bury in March 1966 for £45,000 and Francis Lee from Bolton Wanderers for a then club record fee of £60,000 in October 1967 has there been such excitement about the prospects for success.

All that remains now is to get a string of very good performances under our belt in the next four matches starting today against Wolverhampton Wanderers. An emphatic win today will grow confidence exponentially as we build up to the derby match in 4 weeks time.

Good luck City!
