As expected, not least because the player/manager relationship broke down completely at Goodison Park, Joleon Lescott will be a Manchester City player by Wednesday at the latest. Monday should see the terms agreed between Everton and Manchester City involving a fee in excess of £20,000,000. Personal terms and a medical should then follow on Tuesday with an official announcement expected late Tuesday/early Wednesday.

This will then complete the summer transfer campaign which will go down as the most siccessful in the history of the club, involving spending in excess of £120,000,000.

Not since Joe Mercer signed Mike Summerbee from Swindon Town for £35,000 in 1965, Colin Bell from Bury in March 1966 for £45,000 and Francis Lee from Bolton Wanderers for a then club record fee of £60,000 in October 1967 has there been such excitement about the prospects for success.

All that remains now is to get a string of very good performances under our belt in the next four matches starting today against Wolverhampton Wanderers. An emphatic win today will grow confidence exponentially as we build up to the derby match in 4 weeks time.

Good luck City!

thank you mr. hughes

so it looks like this one is finally going through! About bloody time. My only concern is that he might have trouble finding his best form after all the abuse from gollum. But I think his new wages, team mates and it being a world cup year should be more than enough to get him going. If he plays well I think we finally have a team strong from back to front who can take on the best

I wouldn't worry.

There's a big difference when you have a player who WANTS to play for a team and do his very best , than from one who wants away from a club , and who's only showing disinterest in staying there ....... Lescott , for whatever reason , looks like he's joining us to embark on this journey of ours , i'm sure he'll be as excited and as professional as anyone!

All Fabio Capello wants are players who are playing reguarly , and well , for their chosen clubs ....... and i've no doubt whatsoever that Lescott will want to stay in the international line up for the World Cup ..... he won't let himself , or City , down.

Arf! Yes, surely it will only be the 'most siccessful' transfer campaign in the history of the club if we actually win a trophy. Until then, we've just bought a few players, nothing more.

So watch out for the first Magnificent Seven headline pretty soon ...

says the official site about the daily mail article. Might be reading a bit too much into it but it seems like a very direct hint that they've got it right...
