A few issues here:-
Everton were never contacted directly by City about Lescott until they made a derisory offer for him - So, essentially, what you're saying is City didn't contact Everton about the offer until they made the offer? Is that really a problem? What difference would it have made? Are you really telling me that, prior to the initial bid being made Everton had NO IDEA we were interested? And to use the term"derisory offer" is, at best ill informed and, at worst just stupid. £15m for an above average centre half is anything but derisory. Ok, it might not meat your valuation, but it should meet it. Because Everton feel they can fleece City for more doesn't mean the original offer was "derisory".
Your pre season games havent exactly been ' edge of the seat ' classics , not that too much should be read into these games - As you say pre-season means fuck all, so not sure why you felt the need to mention it and then negate your own point (if you can call it that) in the next breath.

Sven's side was far weaker than this one, and contained several players who had no Premiership experience whatsoever. If anything Hughes' side is better prepared for the Premiership than Sven's was.

A fully fit Everton is capable of beating any team in the Premier league , That's a proper challenge ... winning when the odds are against you ... something we've done for the last 7 years - A fully fit ANYONE is capable of beating any team in the Premier league. Boro seemed to have a knack for beating United. That's because the standard in the Premiership is fairly high. You have won when the odds are against you, if you consider winning Premiership matches whilst not really being a legitimate challenge to the "Big 4" winning. Your record against those "big 4" is pretty poor, what Everton do is beat those sides they should beat and compete with those sides people would consider their equals. Teams fighting relegation always say it's not the games against Arsenal, Chelsea etc that define their seaons, it's those against the teams around them. The same can be said for Everton, if you beat the dross and compete with Villa, Spurs etc then the lack of competitiveness against the big 4 doesn't really matter. It DOES matter if your aims are to break into the big 4 with regularity, but that isn't Everton's aim, and it isn't feasible given your financial constraints.
I promise I won't gloat when we finish above you this coming season - There's every possibility that Everton will finish above City this season, but there's also every possibility that City will compete with the big 4, we have the team (with a couple of defensive additions, which we WILL get, whoever they may end up being). However I'd be surprised if you finished above us in the 2010/2011 season and beyond. I'd be as surprised at that as I would be at Everton finishing above any of the current Big 4.

If you are hearing things have you considered a doctor or a psychiatrist? If you are hearing things could you try listening out for a name, otherwise it's just likely to be challenged as vague rubbish (but which on the off chance that something is announced today you would say you are ITK, or even if it happened tomorrow). I like that post matty and i'm an evertonian! Just a mild riposte on a couple of points - i think moyes' annoyance sprang from the "sky sources understand" headlines that seemed to precede every bid and the fact that the 100k a week wages on offer seem to be pouring out from every media outlet - i don't have a particular problem with such tactics to be honest - been going on since the start of football (1992?!).
Also your last point about us finishing above you post 2010/11 - i'd be very surprised if we're not taken over once the stadium issue is sorted (circa sept/oct) - not expecting your type of budget but if moyes could lay his hands on say £40m for a couple of summers i think we'd have a pretty useful outfit - i'd also think we'd be able to challenge right at the top with that.
Re Lescott - want him to go now - not upset with him - understand his reasons but with our team spirit being such a cited factor in our "success" i think it'd be stupid of moyes to dig his heels in too much. You'll be getting a cracking centre half - great in the air,strong,brave,good left peg,knows his position - ignore his performances for england as he's a bit of a confidence player.I'm just glad jagielka's injured as if i was hughes i'd have bought both.

Back ground: Kaka...was told a day before anything was announced about Kaka that City were looking to spend over £100 million, although I wasn't sure if this was to buy the ground or to go for Kaka.
Kaka again....Was told he was in the bag. Oops.
Adebayor....Told the Friday before it happened that it was a certainty.
Lescott.....Was told last Thursday that it will be happening & all the stuff in the press about going for alternatives is a smokescreen & not to believe it. (I'll wait & see about that one!!)
Ashley Young....we have made an enquiry but no firm bid (no way to know if this is true or not)
Bojinov....Going to Parma, not Lazio, on loan the day before it broke
There are probably a couple more, but got too much work to do to think of any others.
