Of course Fabregas wouldn't come out and say that, if Barca came in for him now he'd jump at the chance, strange example.

Agree with the guy that said 18-20, that's what I rec the eventual fee will be.

Oh and why should he come out and state publicly that he has no intention of joining City? Why should any player? I've never heard Fabragas say this when he's been linked with Barca over the last 3 years and he's still at Arsenal. Has JT come out and say he doesn't want to join City? Not that I know of but i'd put my house on it that he wont be at City come the start of the season. Lescott wont force a transfer, he wont ask for one, he will only be sold if City offer stupid money for him. My personal opinion is you will offer stupid money, and you will get him. However touch base with reality from time to time please and stop being so bloody arrogant!
Fabregas came out last summer and said he wouldn't come to us, it is also quite obvious to me that he does eventually want to move to either Barca or Real Madrid in the future so he isn't going to ruin his chances for a future move by snubbing either club now. Also JT said in January that he didn't want to leave Chelsea.

Other than that you did make a few of good points tbf.

I've not been on here for a while as there's been no "progress" on the Lescott situation and thought i'd check back to see what was your lots thoughts on this... and guess what your still as misinformed as ever!

Everton are not "skint" as many of you keep saying. Yeah we've not got bags of cash to spend, but we dont have to sell anyone. Were not in a dire financial situation, were not about to go bust, and we do have some money to spend on transfers (ok yeah not as much as city obviously). Our income and relatively low outgoings mean we are a self suffienct club... i.e. not a club that has to sell to stay afloat!

Its like you lot think Bill Kenwrights camped outside Sparky's house, cap in hand saying "please Mr Hughes take Lescott from us, we cant afford to pay our leccy bill". Honestly I think you lot need a reality check!

Ok lets look at the reasons why £15m wouldn't be enough to sell Lescott...

1) He's 2 players - our 1st choice CB and our reserve LB. So if we're to replace him we need to buy a CB for roughly £10m and a reserve LB for roughly £5m... leaving nothing spare... so answer me a question... why would we sell him for £15m? How is that of any benefit to us?
2) He's formed a formidable partnership at the back with Jagielka... why would we break this up for a deal thats not beneficial to us?
3) Lescott HAS NOT submitted a transfer request! If one person can show me even one slight bit of evidence that he has then please prove me wrong!

You laughed cause DSOB said it would cost £25m-£30m to get him, and although I wouldn't go as high as £30m, I certainly wouldn't expect him to go for any less then £22m. Yeah he's not worth that in terms of ability, but there's a difference in value to ability and worth to a club. To us Lescotts worth £20m, if City want him they'll have to pay us what he's worth to us, not what he'd be valued at on footy manager.

City fans seem to think that clubs will just roll over because they're "The mighty city" with all their wealth and power. Well your wrong and this has been proven many times already(although most fans on here seem to forget this).

Every player has their price, if City want Lescott they'll have to pay our price, not their own valuation.

Why can't you outbid Spurs for two championship players?

Think back to before City had billions of pounds to spend on players... would you have just thrown x amount of pounds at players? No. Every player has his valuation (much like the Lescott saga) that a club will be willing to pay. Moyes thinks their worth x amount Spurs are willing to pay more, so moyes will move on. If you look at Spurs and us I think its clear to see who's had the most sucessful transfer policy.

i understand it must be frustrating for everton and their supporters mate.
moyes done a great job getting lescott and developing him from a lower league.
he found a bargain and now hes a top prem player who has played internationally.
then all of a sudden 'moneybags' city come and think they can just have him for x amount !

but i honestly believe at the end of the day, you are fighting a losing battle and we will eventually get lescott

You are officially the fifth best team in the PL and you can offer them European football next season and yet players don't want to come to Everton. Why?

I agree with Toffee Andy on the whole.

If the boot was on the other foot and Everton had all this money and were after one of our prize assets and our manager said we didnt need to sell and he wasnt for sale I think we would be saying the same things.

But every player has their price - £20m i think it might cost us but like he says we are getting 2 players for one really.

Yeah and you're overpricing him.

If you have the money, spend it. We don't care what people think.

Of course were overpricing him. He's worth far more to the club then his actual playing ability. Also one point I forgot to mention is that Jagielka will miss some of the season too as he's out injured... another reason why Lescott and the stability at the back he brings is vitally important to us.

Mate

I think you`ll find Fabregas has come out on the Arse website saying he`s a gunner and proud etc etc

Listen we know the score and surely you should. You dont go buying anything with the full asking price straight away unless its something very special.15m will be the initial price and more than likely there will be additions and possibly it will go upto 20m.Thats a lot of money for Everton or any club.I know Everton had there best turnover ever last season so why arn`t you ploughing into the transfer market??Because you hav`nt got much money to spend thats why.Im not having a go but thats the truth.£20m to us is like 3 hours interest on our owners wealth. We have said in the past that we wont be held to ransom and i believe we will get Lescott at a fair price so both teams will benefit. We have a poster called URG who is very reliable and he has had info that Lescott would be interested in a move so it might not be all in Evertons hands.Good luck for next season but i think you might struggle for 5th again.

While Everton are not in dire straits financially and are bringing in more money than ever, they did increrase their debt in the past year to around the £40M mark. It's manageable, but despite the public comments there would be some incentive there to cash in on Lescott. We had to do the same thing with SWP.

Toffeandy makes some good points but

A) Fabregas has come out,on numerous occasions and stated he didn't want to join Barca AT THIS TIME but would in the future. Id find you a link but in work and cant be arsed.
B) Also JT could end all this specualtion but he's refusing to speak to the media. Do you not find it odd that at the kit launch the captain refuses to speak to the media. Its up in the air about Terry but i wouldn't be so confident he wont come.

I agree to an extent that there is a little arrogance around in some Blues view of Everton and i think 15mil will be rejected out of hand, however IF Everton make Lescott hand in a transfer request they risk lowering his value as the whole world would know he wanted out. Moyes has based all your (relative) success so far and team spirit and hard work. I doubt very much he'd keep a player itching to leave.

Actually your right about Fabregas my bad. However I think my point really is that many players are linked with moves but dont say anything about it to the media (regardless of whether they want to move or not). I wouldn't be suprised if some use their silence as a means of negotiating a better contract out of their current club.

I'd be very suprised if Lescott handed in a transfer request, not many players would risk facing the wrath of Moyes, especially as he plucked him from the championship and turned him in to an England international. Lescott seems a well balanced type of guy, I think he appreciates the opportunities Moyes has given him and wouldn't be arrogant enough to just turn his back on him like that.

However if he did do that he'd be out the door quicker then you can say ...Jolean who?
