lescott - part of the Jo agreement

Everton fans must love the football they have been watching this season. Home games v Fulham, Boro and Villa only 31,000 for each game, 40,000 capacity oh dear lar. Massive massive club, .

Supporters of other clubs are welcome here, but you're not going to get a good reaction if all you posts so far have been sarcy pisstakes in a thread full of other everton fans trying to wind us up, if you genuinely want to get our views, stick around, introduce yourself, and talk about football (and ignore cunts like CFTF).

Wow... you guys have run out of things to throw back, at us, in football terms, so you've reverted to 80s stereotypes? Good job, lads.

Anyhow, there's not much chance of you signing Lescott. Regardless of how rich you are, the fact remains that it would be suicidal for Moyes to sell one of his only three centre backs so close to the end of the window. There'd be no chance of spending what little cash he'd get anyway (provided Kenwright nicks it all to pay back loans)... and besides, not every player will join just for the money. Players like Kaka, with the loyalty aspect, are few and far between in the game nowadays, but they do exist, and currently Lescott is one of those players.

You've bought a solid keeper in Given who will, no doubt, start to gain you points, no matter how bereft of confidence your defence looks currently. He's kept Newcastle in the Premier League for a good few seasons, that's for sure!

If we do manage to loan Jo off you, then it's a no lose situation for anyone. We get a striker who hasn't really been given a chance to impress in this league. If he does well, then maybe we'd buy him and you'd free up space for another striker, or you take him back and start playing him. If he isn't good enough, then he returns to your club.

All true. The problem you have is that your fellow Toffee's have not posted in the same articulate manner as your good self which is why it has descended into this!

You make some good ponts though, and we realise we are gonna fall lucky with a few money grabbing superstars at the beginning. But it is those superstars which will be the catalyst for the big guns when we start to get a sniff of success.

I Hope Jo does it for you. I like him. I have from the start. He has a great first touch and he set up a lot of goals in his first few games but he is NOT a lone striker. He doesn't run in behind and is always looking to drop off deep to get the ball.

Our boo boys got rid of any confidence he had before he started but I think he could do really well once settled.

It's always the way. Our boo boys have their own scapegoats as well. It was Hibbert and Neville, now it's Anichebe and Castillo...

I agree that, with a couple more shrewd signings, you will be a tough team and will compete in and around the top six positions, but you need time, and Hughes needs time. Moyes didn't build this team overnight and it's taken us a good five years to start finding our consistency and staying the higher echleons of the league. I'd like to see Moyes given the money that Hughes has, so we can gauge how he does with a decent transfer kitty available to him, but unfortunately Kenwright does seem to be unwilling to relinquish control.

That scenario is pretty much where we are with Hughes now. He took time to get his Blackburn team firing on a small budget. But he did get the time to do it. Now it's time to see if he can do it with a huge transfer kitty.

Some managers are cut out for it, some aren't, but to be honest Hughes' signings so far seem to have been bob on (Jo wasn't his signing, and Tal Ben-Haim we'll ignore as he was bought for cover!), similar to Moyes. His signings have been great from what I see as well. Most notable are Cahill, Pienaar (who I was gutted we didn't go in for at the time), Arteta and this new Fellaini fella.

Time will tell but I think we'll get there sooner or later. I realistically think it'll take 3-5 years to be challenging consistently up at the top but not if we chop and change the manager all the time.
