why ? ... Lescott's played well in Kompany's absence !

And Kompany and Toure were playing well before he left. Lescott only got the nod because of Toure's ban. I just think Mancini prefers Kompany and Toure as a partnership.

I've said a few times that Kompany plays better on the left side of central defence, which is where he plays when Toure plays, as Kolo prefers the right side.

That said, I have to say that Lescott has played excellently this season, from a purely defensive point of view.

I still think we will buy another top class central defender in the summer.

With Lescott, Toure, Kompany and Savic, I don't think we need another defender in the summer. There are more important areas that need addressing, such as winger and a LB should Kolarov be moved on.

Lescott is shit.

If he was any good he'd be playing for the team at the top of the league with the best defensive record in the league.

Exactly he would be at Blackburn
Hold on a minute.................................

He has certainly improved a lot under Roberto, but is not anywhere near good enough when faced with anything but an average opponent, he still gets caught under crosses or out of position far to often.

To be fair I never rated him or thought he was worth anywhere near what we paid, and yes he has had a few games where he looks ok, but if we want to step up and mix it with the big boys he`s simply not good enough.

i'v been one of his biggest critics as he was shaky and "treated the ball like a bomb", but i must say he has improved alot so fair play to him

Just wanted to say that for all that we regularly doubt Lescott, Kolo, Savic, Kolarov, etc ... statistically we have the best defence in the league.

And (almost) all our defeats have been 1-0, so can hardly blame the defence.

I`m a big fan of JL,but my only concern is his lack of belief in what to do with the ball when he`s in possession.
Does look very uncomfortable when given the ball, but more than makes up for that with his defensive displays.
Very underated IMO.

I don't know if Savic is the kind of quality CB you should be looking for really...

Savic is a work in progress. When Vidic was his age, he was getting loaned out to Second Division clubs in Serbia

Only problem is: if you count on a guy his age, you don't want him to make dubious mistakes. Send him off to a lower ranked team if he needs more experience. That way he gains xp and you'll not be the one paying for the mistakes he made. If you wanna compare players:

At age 16, this is how Kompany defended. ;)
