I thought he did very well against Fulham. A few times when they pushed up he stepped in to make important challenges. He has to be England first choice on his performances this season. Which English CB has been as good as him? No one.

I think Mancini didn't take to him 'cos he doesn't have the ball playing skills of neither Vinny nor Dave Ewing, but as a pure defender he takes some beating. He has returned to the form he showed for EFC, which is why the Welsh One bought him in the first place.

I've said a few times that Kompany plays better on the left side of central defence, which is where he plays when Toure plays, as Kolo prefers the right side.

That said, I have to say that Lescott has played excellently this season, from a purely defensive point of view.

I still think we will buy another top class central defender in the summer.
