This club has had huge potential for over thirty years. The only difference now is that some City fans have lost the plot because ADUG have bought us over. Now success has to be instant and we are in danger of becoming the clone of a certain club over the road who we vilify because of their arrogance and greed.

I am sure there are quite a few who won't be happy until we are all munching on prawn sandwiches.

Any club has 'potential'. Potential to be promoted, win a cup, become a favourite, etc. We haven't had TRUE big club 'potential' for 30 years, just the ghost of what was, as the finances we needed were never there to compliment what we once were.

That's not true any more, so what's the point in hiring a dude to learn on the job with the 'potential' we truly have??

Basically you are saying lets just buy the league and put a chimp or Sven in charge!

A chimp IS in charge! You want someone who knows what he's doing already, not someone learning his role.

Come on, Bigga. He knows his role and what management is. Any manager in the world would need time to get a squad together and it wouldn't all be peachy until they had.

Ok, so maybe I'm harsh! But, I think my problem is that Hughes doesn't seem to instil anything other than what the players bring to table. Do you know what I mean?

For example, when SWP first played for us, he played along the wing. He goes to Ch£l$ki and Jose has him believing in his ability to play 'in the hole' at some points and the lad was effective.

That's what I want. I want the manager to be able to get the best out of our players for whatever position they are needed in. That takes a skill in management.

I know that Shaun played in mid for us, but being honest, it wasn't too far from what he was doing on the wing, That was just transference. Gelson is a good example. Slung in at right against the Dippers. Hughes should have gripped him for 5mins before putting him on and giving the boy some belief and strict instructions at not going crazy, if he was really convinced to put the boy in that role.

I just don't have any confidence in Hughes.

Lets get one thing straight here, whether you are Pro or Anti Hughes on an internet forum means shit !! I have a Seasoncard and the cold facts are that if the crowd of approx 43,000 are the Barometer then those that are Pro Hughes have'nt made that clear since July because in that time never once has his name been sung by the fans !! The rest of us are just too polite to tell himto do one !!

What about Zab's move to DM? Never playe that position before but Hughes obviously saw something in him to move him up and he's been one of our most consistent performers ever since. Also, Kompany had been a central defender all of his previous career with the odd DM appearance, but Hughes bought him specifically to play him at DM. Inspired really, knowing what we know abot big Vinny now.

I think you are doing Hughes a bit of a dis-service saying he doesn't get the best out of players in whatever position they play in. Those 2 are shining examples.

I REALLY like the players he has brought in so far.

Not terribly convinced though with what he does during matches re subs etc etc, and I do doubt some of the players reactions to his tenureship.

But I like him, and I don't buy into any of this nonsense re he doesn't have a personality. That is bullshit.

I want him to stay. Some posters would have had Scolari at City, but he didn't last long at Chelski did he?

For me the Manager has to be allowed to form a team. And build. And despite the posters that whine about posters like me saying "More time"...well, I am sorry but it is true.

That's where you're wrong. Zab has played RB, DM and CM at different points of his short career PRIOR to coming to this club. Vinny, himself says he prefers playing DM and Hughes bought him for the specific reason of being able to do both jobs. He's not 'converted' the lad, in any way shape or form!!

Show me one other player that doesn't have multiple positions under his belt that Hughes has moulded?

None. He doesn't need to, that's why. Those players you mentioned are utility, anyway!

Maybe its simpler then whether people rate him or not or whether he can deliver or not maybe it just that for some reason Hughes is a difficult person to like. Actually make that impossible to like in my case. The only manager I could possibly dislike more is Souness. No idea why it just is.

I wish people would get over his rag past and stop using it as a weapon against people who just don't think he's good enough. Great eye for a player but every other aspect of his management of our club is rightly being questioned. I disagree that he's doing a good job; he's doing a shite job. So far stumbling into the last 8 of a cup competition not too many are taking seriously is blinding some people's view of him. After penalty wins against two poor teams from Denmark, beating another team by a goal from the same country and pretty average performances against Twente and PSG we are pretty lucky to still be in the competition but that's the way European tournaments are these days so all credit to him and the team for getting us here. But this run is not gonna fool me into thinking he's the right manager for the long term and performances like last night, although eventually victorious, are not gonna have me changing my mind any time soon. And to be perfectly honest even if we win the competition I still don't want him to be our manager. Our performances against weaker opposition this season have been absolutely appalling and for us to be in and around and even below the likes of Fulham, Wigan, West Ham as well as being a million miles from Everton and Villa represents, to me at least, a shite season!

'What about Zab's move to DM? ' - absolutley correct Kinkys blue socks. This is an example of a very good decision completely overlooked by the persecuters.

Why is there this huge reluctance to give him a chance? It cant be the Utd history because I dont know a blue who cares. In fact, I have a number of devout rag fan mates who absolutely hate the fact Hughes cares about City (before you question this, he must do, he wants us to succeed). He must be given time, I will accept in a years time if we're struggling then we should think about it but Im not convinced sacking now him will help. There is no manager who could turn this team into champions overnight.
