As we are on the verge of greatness and about to become a Global Brand, I wanted to say a thank you to those of you ( the hardcore fans) that have put us in this position.

I have never had a season ticket, was not at York away, never bought a Club shirt. Yet I have still supported the club for nearly fifty years and believe that without our hardcore supporters we would not be where we are today. I am sure that one of the key factors supporting decisions to buy the club was the level of support and potential for future support of the club even when we were in the third tier.

I believe those of you that were there, at all the matches through thick and thin are owed a great debt by those of us who have only been able to support the club through other means. You kept the dream alive, you kept us on the map. You saved the club with your hard earned cash, your time and commitment. For that I thank you.

For me, Manchester born, raised in Liverpool ( plenty of beatings supporting City in a Scouse school) Travelled and worked around the world, City have been my one constant and one point of reference to my roots. Only got to see them once or twice a season but was there on May 13th, and for that moment, the most exhilarating moment in my life (along with the birth of my son) I thank you again.

As technology improves and we access to see more matches, discuss on forums and track developments on the interweb, being a supporter takes many forms, but for me, those of you who get to the matches, put your money where your mouth is, you are a cut above the rest. I salute you.

As time passes, your role in the clubs history may diminish, but to me ( and to many others like me, or those who may have lapsed only to have their passions reignited) you must never be the forgotten ones.

We are all equally city fans but some are more equal than others. The future is bright, the future is Blue.

I think the OP makes a valid point that without our history of support in times of adversity we may not have looked as attractive to ADUG. However, it always makes me smile when attending the York away game is held up as some big symbol of loyalty. I went to York and look back on it as a big piss up and a laugh with mates as was the whole of that season. The Pearce days were far harder to bear.

Re: Lest we forgett

Like the O.P. i have only seen a few games live but Man City have always been my team. No connection to Manchester (Hull, born and bred) but always a dislike / disdain towards Man Utd.

Football is not my number one sport (Rugby League is) but Man City has always been my team, the team i always look out for the results of and the only team i make a point of watching on tv.
