Lest we forget....

*23 January 1926

Manchester Utd 1 Manchester City 6

This remains City's biggest win against United, made all the more remarkable as the Blues ended the season being relegated by a point, while United finished ninth.*

Who knew...

It gets missed by a lot of people - including our own fans - that the question was never about City winning trophies or league titles. It was simply whether United would go into a derby as underdogs. And it shows how short-sighted he was because less than 4 months later the bookies made us favourites to win the first leg of the League Cup semi-final.

Of course people can refer to him by whatever name they want. But for me he will never be “Fergie”. That's the affectionate name that was given him by a fawning, adoring press in the years that United were a juggernaut that swept all before them. History loves the victors. The story of the losers is invisible. For years, we were losers and we had to live with it. We remember our story in those years, and it is enough that we remember it. And celebrate having simply been City fans.
He'll never be “Fergie” for me, or even “Whisky nose” or “Bacon face”. Still less — God forbid — “Sir Alex”. For one gesture, and one only, I will give him a measure of respect: agreeing to Paul Lake's testimonial game. He was a bully, not only to his opponents, to referees and other officials, even, at times, to his own players. In my lifetime, I will not forget any of that.
As the enemy, and a habitually disdainful one at that, I will accord him the name that is on his birth certificate: Ferguson. Not one jot more.

Yes, come on, say how you got it!

Sorry, only just logged back in.

It was a club competition. I can remember picking it up from the club shop and a guy thought it was the QPR ball. Not disappointed when he found out it wasn't he asked if he could have a photo with it, which I duly obliged.

I personally prefer GPC to be honest. I think that it is a style of address thought up by City fans.
And he was from Govan and he did like a drink or two. Perfect for the red nosed old tw*t.

Always think of the Sir spelt "Cur". Makes me feel better!
