Let the Beast Loose

I think his best all round games for us have been when he's started in the deeper position.

When he starts in the more advanced role he rarely does much in the first half, his attacking threat is generally in the second half. Most of his goals are in the 2nd half, irrespective of whether he starts forward or deep.

His passing game is much better than he's given credit for. When he does start deep he's always been given license to push forward when the game demands it.

There maybe a case for changing his role if we move away from the 2 holding midfielders set up. If we don't then he should be one of the 2. Otherwise we end up too defensive. We end up with Yaya playing at the expense of Tevez or Nasri and two ultra defensive midfielders such as Garcia & Barry. That's not an attacking option.

Agree 100%.

Not entirely sure where this myth has come from that he was suddenly asked to play a more defensive role this season than last. 95% of the time he's played in exactly the same position as last year, just nowhere near as well (like the rest of the team)

One of the best things about the upcoming season is no World Cup, no European Championships and no fucking ACoN's!

Should do our squad the world of good

When i saw the headline i thought Gerry Gow was coming back...................now he was a beast and awesome too..........

yaya is best when he has no defensive duties, when hes roaming the midfield/upfront there is no better midfielder in the world, stick him with barry in a defensive role then youve got trouble ie wigan cup final.

he needs to play in a three,as for being lazy, give your head a wobble

Hopefully the beast will pull his finger out more than half a dozen times next season.

That is a bit harsh on Jack Russell's, they are good hard working dogs.
Yaya is more like a drugged up sloth in some games.

very funny.

yaya plays every game for mcfc when fit. every game. in the middle of our season he flew to africa for a fiercely contested tournament in the baking heat. due to his quality his team reached the finals..can you imagine how much energy he used up by the time he flew back to england .. and straight into the team at southampton..and then barely out of the team for the remainder of the season, battling it out in central midfield in what is generally regarded as the toughest, most demanding league in the world.

a fully fit and fresh yaya at southampton( instead of the understandbly dead on his feet version) and an appearence at everton may, just may have have improved our title chances this season..what is clear is that our team is a lot poorer without him.

yaya didn,t get a single rest this season. never moaned and said he was tired. a real professional, one of the top players in the world.

Instead of calling him lazy, and referring to him as a beast, like he was some wild andy morrison type animal, i,d suggest it is more accurate for city fans to fully appreciate what we have within our ranks, and show the guy some respect.

well said Dennis; the tendency to slag people off on here is beyond belief; would love to see some of these slaggers run several miles in an hour and a half, and then do a surging run, with the strength to hold off several challenges, and then sprint back to their own half, fucking jokers

Oh i'm not sure about that. Have you seen the rush to beat the traffic on 85 minutes?

He needs to play behind the striker, he is one lazy motherfucker at getting back when he plays the holding role, other players regularly run past him when we lose the ball and need to defend, it drives me fucking mad.
