Lets get em in the cup

On what basis does anyone think we'd beat United if we drew them in the Cup? Give me a single pointer which suggests that would happen?

They are above us in the League and we have a rotten record against them over the past 30 years.

It's fair enough being optimistic but to actually want to draw them? You must be some sort of sadist!

Using that argumnent we're never going to win anything unless we somehow avoid playing them. For me part of the pleasure of winning stuff will be beating them on our way to glory. in fact, whether you like it or not, we are going to have to.

I have had the feeling we will meet them in the Cup this year for a while now - I think it may be our destiny - sooner or later we will beat them when it really really matters and all that has past will be forgotten

This.

I'd like the personnel in this club set up in a way that we don't have to make pathetic excuses. I'm getting tired of hearing them.

Can't win the big game at home last year against Spuds.
Hammered by Arse/Spuds away, lucky to salvage draws.
Hammered at home by Arse, played for a draw at home against rags.
Now beaten miraculously by rags.
Our one moment of joy in nearly the last year by Tevez at home against Chelsea.

All this after spending 100+ million on new players and looking worse in big games than under Hughes. The excuses are wearing thin.

chelsea spent 100 mill nearly and got hammered by fookin liverpool. at home.

and away ;)

Gutted about today, proud of the lads went there and looked the better side.
I really want those jammy, cheating t...ts in the cup assuming we beat NC and AV so we can really show em the tide is changing.

what a fucking good post, well said mate.

i just hope somebody else knocks em out cos as well as we played yesterday the result was the same. defeat. we always seem to blow up when the chips are down, its just ingrained in our very being. i love city, always have and always will but being a fan is like paying a pennance. we continually get built up about them, we win a few games and just as we think the tides have changed and we have turned the corner BAM another kick in the bollocks. i know im gonna get stick but this is how i feel. i will always renew my season ticket but i dont expect anything in return , i used to but i feel it will never happen. if i could liken city to a character from tv it would be michael crawford from some mothers do av em or that old bloke with the shite luck in the fast show. this isnt a rant or a cheap pop to cause anger in the forum its just my feelings, and as ive already said i will be there at the next game and the game after. im 41 now and i vaguely remember my dad coming home from the 76 final unable to speak but with the silliest grin ive ever seen on his face. i just hope one day that grin will be on my face but im not holding my breath. oh bugger !

It would definitely be sweet revenge to knock them out of the cup. or take it while they watch us jog around the field with it. I do want to play them though, don't want to do an end around. We have to keep playing them and playing them until we slay the dragon

WTF?

"so we can really show em the tide is changing"? Er, like last season in the cup? Or twice this season?

"Good post"?

WTF?

Can't believe some of the stuff on here.

For whatever reason our record against them is unbelieveably bad. It seems that playing them is a guaranteed loss. The main problem, I feel, is that they stand between us and silverware. We will have to face them eventually, it is inevitable.

I can understand what your saying fella, but its not as if they have twatted us all over in the last 6 games is it, I get it you dont want them in the cup (nor do I) but your acting like they are Barca or somthing.
For the record I dont think they were lucky yesterday they scored 2 goals of the highest quallity (1st was avoidable) well we scored a fluke but FFS they wouldnt want us just as much as we wouldnt want them, we are a very good team mate and no one wants to draw Manchester City in any cup any more we should fear no team.
