Lets get em in the cup

In games against Arsenal, United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs;

Hughes: 14 games 11 points = 0.79 points per game
Mancini: 12 games 14 points = 1.16 points per game

It's hardly time for the Hughes inners to come crawling out of the woodwork. It's not perfect but we are improving.

I have learned over the last 20 years not to expect much from this fixture. Even when facing an average rag team (like this current one) we just cannot seem to put them to the sword. It's all psychological.

LOL - it'll be the same old shit.

Week running up to the game: Threads on here saying how we'll beat 'em.

We lose.

Threads on here saying how unlucky we were, that we played pretty football, how proud of the team we are, our time is coming yada, yada yada.

Meanwhile, the rags just laugh their cocks off.

This. Since a City team consisting of Vassell, Benjani, Michael Ball, Gelson Fernandes, and Sun Jihai, put them to the sword on their own turf, our derby record has been rotten. 5 league victories including doubles in consecutive seasons, plus a Carling Cup defeat which meant they progressed to a Cup final, and just one 0-0 draw at home the only time we've not lost. Only 4 goals scored, 3 of which came in the same match. Should we beat Notts County and Villa, they're the last team I'd want to face. They have a psychological edge on us. I would rather they suffer a humiliating exit to Crawley, we go on to win it, and give the whole place a winning mentality.

WTF?

"so we can really show em the tide is changing"? Er, like last season in the cup? Or twice this season?

"Good post"?

WTF?

Can't believe some of the stuff on here.
I can understand what your saying fella, but its not as if they have twatted us all over in the last 6 games is it, I get it you dont want them in the cup (nor do I) but your acting like they are Barca or somthing.

Let me ask you a question: How many have we won over the "last six games"?!

Think of the number, then ask yourself if the statement "we can really show em the tide is changing", has any real basis other than blind, wishful thinking.

If you still don't understand what I'm saying, then I despair.

One day they'll work it out, but one day we'll also get the advantage, that day is coming slowly, but wanting them in a cup competition at the moment is plain daft, we might win, but its far more likely we won't.

Even when they are shit like yesterday they still win.

Sometimes it feels that if we had a 25 year old Maldini, a 25 year old Colin Bell and Messi himself in our side that they would still find a way to beat us. Dreading going into work tomorrow.

Sorry for being such a pussy!

You will always dispair fella because thats the sort of poster you are, if you would of quoted all my post, I put fuck all about "tides changing" but that wouldnt of fitted in with your argument would it! I dont want them in the cup as much as you dont but fear them I wont. 2 years ago we haden't beaten Chelsea for god knows how long yet right now we seem to be their boggy team.
Brighten up a bit FFS.

If i was a neutral supporter reading this then i'd think we had never beaten United over the past 30 years. What about the 3-1 at Maine Road, the first derby at COMS that ended 4-1,or the other 3-1 when Ronaldo was sent off.The 1-0 when Bernabia scored,or the 2-1 at Old Trafford. Then the first leg of the Carling cup semi? add to this quite a few draws there down the years, and i'd say we have as good a record against them as anyone.

I think the problem with playing them now,is they take us for more seriously than they used to.We have come a long way in a short space of time, and where as once we could catch them cold,in a one off game, they now raise there game far more than they used to due to the quality of our side.

If we are to go all the way in this seasons F.a.cup,then the chances are we will meet then in the semi final or final anyway, lets be honest a side that has only lost 2 games in all competitions this season, isn't going to be too far away. But they always say to win something you have to beat the best so bring em on.Home advantage would be nice though.

Jim, I agree with every single word of that. Sick to fucking death of the same old shite. All that money spent and still a poor second best to them.
