1989 - Reunification of Germany?, End of the Cold War? Dissolution of the USSR?

Bit of a History geek and I love the Total War games so I learn a bit from them.

1861 -Italy created as one country by Garibaldi ???
1871- Germany created as one country by unification of various states (Prussia,Saxony etc.) by Bismarck.

Hope we get thrown some more dates. (Am feeling a bit peckish, here at the zoo.)
