Leverkusen (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Really poor, regardless of the personnel. Lacked intensity and desire, we went through the motions for most of the match.

Nobody starting did anything to make Pep sit up and take notice. Quite a few played themselves out of opportunity for any game time anytime soon.

Got exactly what we deserve which was fuck all. You can’t make 10 changes in a champions league match. We’re in a good spot a win tonight would almost seen us through. Baffling by Pep
Inexcusable, that will impact on the rest of the season now, lose the next game at Madrid and we’re struggling again, there’s only so much the likes of Rodri & Haaland will put up with. That starting line up was embarrassing and Pep should be expecting a phone call from the sheikh later, we hid behind injuries last year but some of the selections were questionable, there’s no excuses now and we’ve become weak and clueless, giving Lewis & Savinho new contracts is unbelievable and having no fullbacks in the first team squad or wingers that can’t beat a man or cross a ball is unforgivable. We have no tough men or strong characters apart from Haaland and we are rudderless on the pitch. Not wanting to sound dramatic but we could be coming to the end of the trophies.

Pep can actually fuck off after that. Madrid away next whoop de fucking doo. I hope Savinho never kicks a ball for us again and the same goes for reijnders. Embarrassing. Winning becomes habit so play your best team and then maybe rest a few against Leeds at home. Dont think I’ve been this pissed off at a city performance in years
Or get a lead here and then bring the scrubs on at 60

We were unlucky tonight. Could've been facing an Eric Ten Hag side.
You call that unlucky PB? It isn't luck, it's down to management. Have they looked at the Leverkusen side recently, looked at their strengths and weaknesses? If they had, why pick a side like that starting line up. I, like many, knew seeing that line up the City team wasn't good enough. IMHO, many players in that team wouldn't be in the starting 11.

Not very often I am critical of City but that was an inept performance against a very poor team. Too many goals given away when the opponents create so few chances. City need so many chances to score one. Too many players falling over and expecting the referee to help them out with a cheap free kick. All the players need to show some fight, starting Saturday.

I agree about Erling. He will do next season and if this same shite continues he will be off.

I personally think Rodri has gone too. A complete rebuild needed.
You can almost see it, feel it, amongst some of the players…Foden, Haaland, Stones.

They’ve gone from playing with generational talents, to just the most average bunch in such a short space of time, it must suck the life out of you.

Yes, agree on Rodri, an ACL at that age isn’t an easy return. It’s mind boggling we actually still don’t have a replacement, or adequate support player.

Just because Leeds is the very next game, it doesn't mean the players were specifically rested for it. I wouldn't be that surprised if we rest some players against Leeds as well because following that we've got 10 games in 33 days.

Haaland, Doku, Foden have all played too much football and they have to be rested at some point.

I don't love making 10 changes and the performance of our second string is disturbingly bad, but Pep & co. clearly felt this game was one we could afford to lose, and we lost.
Due to that selection they might end up having to play an extra 2 games in a play off. Win the game then take them off! Would have been better starting strong and subbing if we were 2/3 up. If he’s was that arsed about games coming up he could have just played all stiffs in Madrid. Instead he’ll probably now go full strength and there’s a decent chance we’ll get beat anyway. If he’d just got the 3 points in the bag tonight Madrid wouldn’t have been that important.

lol.

Pep Wenger

Stick a fork in him. He's done
feels like the Pellegrini wilderness years;

- inconsistent with no title challenge
- terrible signings stinking up the gaff (Bony, Mangala, Fernando, Caballero v Savinho, Nunes, Philips, Trafford, maybe Marmoush sadly)
- former greats trading on legacy but actually past their best - Zabba, Nasri, Hart, Yaya maybe Kompany v Bernie, Stones, Ake, hope not Rodri.
