Yeah i remember that. Just read up about it and its a weird one. It was her foster dad who after 2 retrials was aquited, but never found not guilty. Because of that he cant claim compensation.
also police have no plan to reopen the investigation.
sounds like they think it was him?
Dunno, a rare case though

It split the area in opinions i can tell you , hopefully dna has moved on and she can eventually get justice , i thought it was him who did it at the time , there is a doco this week looking at the story , sure there is a lot i have forgotten

When and what is it on?

i guess its difficult for DNA to rule the foster dad out as his would be all in and around her and the scene.

Bellfield's former wife had previously said it was not possible that he could have been in Kent on the day, and a member of Stone's legal team also stated that there was nothing in Bellfield's statement which was not already in the public domain, suggesting he could have fabricated it using known evidence. The detective responsible for investigating Bellfield's known crimes also stated to the press: "Knowing Bellfield as I do, this could be him playing mind games". The Metropolitan Police previously investigated allegations that Bellfield was involved in the Russell murders and found no evidence to support the suggestion

Not really.

We moved on as a nation from an eye for an eye type justice a fair while back now.
Not saying we haven’t but be a tough choice for any sane person to either do 20 odd years banged up with lunatics or to take the death penalty was my point. There will always be fuck ups which ever way ‘justice’ is served.
