Leyton Orient (A) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

The new center backs looks solid enough in their first times out. Looking forward to having them in the rotation so Ake can be eased in when he's fit and Akanji can finally get some rest. Good chance creation from Grealish and Savio, but the finishing was poor in general.

Might as well have played with 10 given McAtee was invisible only to be replaced by Foden who looked like the occasion was below him or something.

Instead of employing the awful Keown when City are playing. Why not mic up the opponents manager.

Will be as impartial and probably a lot cheaper
Would like to see the BBC broken up, or privatised. Far too biased and old fashioned and imo not value for money for the licence payers….

For starters nobody in the sports comms teams should have more than a zero hours contract and get paid only on a game by game basis. They should also have a very broad portfolio of commentators and sports anchors….they could select from ex players, ex managers, foreign coaches etc etc the list is huge.

Also AI could do a better job of writing most of the content on the website…we don’t need a Dan moan, or silly stone, they only need content editors to ensure the articles are factual and unbiased….

There, I could probably save hundreds of millions of their annual spend just with those changes.

We battled well, and thats a good win for us, the boys will be pleased they battled it out and won. The youngsters.... hmmm they seem shallow or not ready for the fight, a bit flakey compared with the previous generation of footballers, a bit too humble or whatever. MCatee really has had enough chances to kick on. O'Rielly needs more games I suppose. But against Orient they should be playing more comfortably. Marmoush is still getting used to the PL and they way City players are expected to take the kicks no other team has to,,, he will get their and based on what I have seen he is going to be quite a good player.

Keown was atrocious, I understand the underdog story and even ignoring City but he showed real true colours when it came to wanting our players to be injured, wanting us (And seemingly happy) to now struggle against RM in midweek. He used to be harmless with a near total lack of football knowledge but he is actually dangerous spreading his bullshit for everyone to consume.
Micah took off the BBC shackles after the game and you can see it when he was pumping Rico up for madrid. It's clear he gets ordered to be impartial when it comes to us but other pundits aren't held to that standard.

Some absolute belters from Keown today.

"Not sure thats conclusevly a penalty, think he takes out his own man". I had no idea Marmoush played for Orient.

"Great not to have VAR". What? After what we saw last night?

"Man City havent turned up". 12 minutes into the game.

And his absolute refusal to admit their goal was an OG fluke. Great effort, but he hit the bar!!

We played with pretty much our back up team, including players making their debuts. Away at a team pumped up for it, it was never going to be easy. I never felt we were going to lose that even after their somewhat fortunate goal.

Both new CBs looked decent enough. Marmoush made some great runs and tried hard, perhaps too hard though and needs to learn to make the right decisions, instead of always going for goal himself. O'Reilly was ok but I thought McAtee looked a bit lost again. Gundogan was his present usual self. Lewis had a decent 2nd half. Savinho and Grealish both had good games (Savinho faded a bit 2nd half) and the latter was my MOTM. Had a hand in both goals, made some good crosses and passes to open them up and blocked crosses and won important headers. Bernardo was very good and worked incredibly hard. Just hope Gonzalez is ok, he looked decent enough until having to come off.

Most disappointing thing for me was the last 10 mins when, for some reason, we stopped playing our game and just started aimlessly punting it forward. It just gave Orient to the opportunity to lump it into our box and put us under pressure.

Good to get some minutes into our back-up players and the new ones. Should stand them in good stead for whenever needed.

Anyway, a good win under the circumstances and we're in the next round. That's all that matters.

We’ve fallen off a cliff quality wise. Team needs a serious rebuild in the summer.

A real scrappy typical cup tie that we could easily have lost, but we're through, just.
The BBC, no surprise, were an actual disgrace from start to finish, as was the ref.
I have no idea if we're improving or not, far too wide open at the back still and missing too.many chances. A rebuilding period, if we scab a trophy and get in the top four it will have proved to be a success, but I'd say both are going to be tough.

You missed, "You have to wonder about the quality of these signings" after the obviously, pre-planned subs at the break
