Leyton Orient (A) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

Do you think Gonzalez was fouled in the build-up to their goal? Dias played a difficult ball into him, and the pitch wasn't the best. He struggled to control it and was off-balance. An Orient player came in from the side, and as he was falling the ball broke to the 'goal-scorer'. As the Orient player came in from the side he came in with arms raised on his shoulder but it looked like Gonzalez was already going down, and so no foul was given.

Gonzalez lost possession in a dangerous area but I think that is part of the learning process. The Orient player fell on his abdomen / side and has probably caused dome bruising, hopefully his rib-cage is OK.
I didn’t think it was a blatant foul tbh - one of those sometimes given and sometimes not. Type of challenge refs let go in the Cup where a minnow is playing a big club (unless it’s the rags when he probably would’ve been sent off)

On reflection and after watching NUFC Vs BFC and Peps presser, I'm a little bit more accepting of the performance yesterday.

Tight ground, pissing rain, mud, hard atmosphere, B team out, new boys, etc.

Was never going to be easy.

I know it’s only Leyton Orient but Khusanov looked good.
Strong in the challenge, quick and the challenge on the line was brilliant.

Looking forward to watching how he does over the next few seasons.

Thought mcatee did a great job, how he avoided the ball, didn’t make runs and jogged around the pitch totally oblivious there was a game going on took some serious effort.
Then when he gets moved onto another top club, gets more game time to settle, and develops into the world class player he likely can be, you'll demanding answers and complaining that the club sold him.

He's virtually had no consistent game time, give the lad a break.

Me too. Even his debut was fine once he got that horrendous first 10 minutes out of his system. Got a key block in and might’ve played the whole game if he hadn’t been booked.

Raw, but very exciting prospect.

I’d rather just judge on the performance yesterday on the post match thread, if I have a beef further down the line in any other games, I’ll also comment on that post match thread. Cheers

The mitigating circumstances are becoming a broken record. There was enough quality out there to get the job done. Fed up of all the usual excuses. Some of the stuff was elementary mistakes which continue to haunt us. This is a L1 side whatever the circumstances.
“ There was enough quality out there to get the job done.”
Indeed there was.

He looks a bit fed up to me. I thought he'd jump at the chance to impress as he was getting good reviews while at Sheffield on loan a couple of seasons ago.

The post you replied to was right, he was garbage. That doesn't go hand in hand with your point of complaining about him being sold if he comes good. Him playing these kind of ties are the problem that he isn't then trusted with as close to a full strength around him to see his true potential. Calling out he was crap won't have any consequences and if he comes good or not elsewhere. Us not giving him a chance will.

The real story is is how can there be approx 50 to 80 seats empty when fans couldn't get hold of any tickets?! Absolute scandal from the club yet again!!!
Yep- two empty rows behind me - approximately 15 seats in total- completely empty all game

He was stood near us and on good form yesterday. Was having a laugh with a lad about something on his phone. Most just leave him alone or just the odd letting on. Strange how Mike Pickering's ticket always seems to be next to him ;-)
Strange how the moaners do not seemed fussed about Mike Pickering getting tickets.lol.

Time to ditch the inverted full back now every team know where to play long diagonals into space when either full back has inverted even orient used it as their main weapon.
This is definitely the case, as most teams are now are again using rapidly fast wingers.
Bournemouth and Brighton are just 2 current teams who will always exploit this when they play City.
Even Liverpool, who are probably the best current team in the Premier League, will exploit this tactic, as they have "hit balls into space" for the last decade e.g. the Sturbridge/Sterling/Sanchez team...

I think there is some middle ground. Mcatee is clearly a decent prospect and will have a career at the top level. But he's playing in our lesser games and when we rotate top players out and when we do that this season we look a lot weaker. It's not his fault but at the same time he's on the pitch and can make a difference.

Yesterday wasn't ideal for him. But he does need to start making more impact generally.

Glad we escaped that one. Grotty weather, heavy pitch, conceded first and lost a key player to injury in the first half but we found a way to overcome it.

Ref was very favourable to them - the right back shouldve been sent-off after committing at least 3 clear yellow card offences - and he missed a stonewall pen for a foul on Marmoush when McAtee hit the post.

Plus points - we showed some bottle, dug ourselves out. Have seen Grealish getting some stick on social media and I dont quite get it - thought he was one of our better players, who always wanted the ball, and set both goals up. Gundo did OK and KDB added the touch of class to win the game. The less said about our defending the better though finishing the game with Bernie at left-back was always going to be a walk on the wild side.

We're in the hat and thats ultimately all that matters. You dont get style points and theres no goal difference in the Cup.

It's legal to opt out of paying the fee.
It's easy, takes 2 minutes, the no. is on the back of the license.

Inform them that you're leaving the country, they even rebate any credit balance.

There are NO detection teams.

Do it...it's most liberating !!

He looks so sad though, Pep needs to give him more hugs .
