Liam Delap - Ipswich player 2024-25

Personally, and I know people might disagree here, but if we buy a top striker next season, I hope we cash out on Jesus and keep a front line of said striker, kun and delap.

For me, that would leave us too weak after next season as Aguero will be either gone or used very sparingly, and Delap still developing.
That said, don't see us even considering letting Jesus go.

Jesus best position for me is where sterling plays on the left. Jesus is like a lot of our players they are comfortable in a few positions.

Agreed,Jesus offers us far more in terms of overall play than 'just a striker'.He is still improving too.

That's why I said *if* we buy a top striker (i.e haaland). I don't think that's too lean a set up, and it's in fact a lot stronger than what we're dealing with this season

if he's going to stay, he needs to be on the first team bench more and brought on more often.

No point him having another full season in the EDS with a token League Cup call-up. If we bring in another striker then someone has to leave for Delap to get the back-up spot. We can all point to Foden but he's a unique case.

Really needs to go on loan. Watching him for the EDS it's just too easy for him, he just bully's his way through defenders that are half his size and can't lay a glove on him, he wouldn't be able to do a lot of the things he does in the first team. Get him playing regularly against players who can cope with his physicality and see how he gets on.

Maybe on my own and he's still a bit young but he looks great for a loan to a team like Brighton, they play great football but struggling with someone putting the ball in the net

Prem maybe a stretch.....I think a team like Brentford who play good football would be the better level.

He's putting in some really mature performances, unfortunately he's not got that killer instinct to be a 30 goal a season striker. Or he doesn't look like he does anyway. Would love to see it really click for him with us and his attitude is top class.

Delap is doing everything right and looks great prospect. It will be interesting to see what we do with him, but he's an exciting player to have coming through.

I wont disagree with any of that.

Not that it’s a particularly notable record, but if he gets 3 more goals in the remaining 9 games he’ll break the record for most goals scored in a PL2 season. And he’s missed 3 games due to suspension and he doesn’t take penalties.

Missed 4, not 3

Missed 4, not 3

He was suspended for 4 games after the red against Derby, but because he’s an U18 his suspension was for U23 and U18 games. So he only missed two games for the EDS, plus the one from earlier in the season.
