Liam Delap - Ipswich player 2024-25

He certainly knows how to put himself about and make himself an handful for any defender to deal with, his movement and knowledge of the position and knowing where to be and when cannot be taught, you either have it or you don't, most things are taught and will be learnt, but putting it in the net, he is already capable of that, for me he either breaks through to the first team picture and set up at the end or towards the end of this season, ready for the 21-22 season, or he moves on elsewhere to form a career in the game.

Forget sending players on these f**king useless loans that have and hold no purpose what-so-ever, they never come back and get any closer to the first team, and after a series of them, are sold for an hopeful profit, any youngster who ever goes out on loan sees their first team chances of ever making it here, follow them out of the door as well, only thing is, that doesn't come back when they do, it stays well away from the club.

2 goals at the death to wrap up a 3-0 at Mansfield - shameful that ifollow charges £10 to watch the game.

Scored 2 in the EFL trophy vs Mansfield tonight, in a 3-0 win, his 2nd goal was superb. Bit of a frustrating night for him going off reports but seems to know where the net is.

Still only 17 but feels like one of those situations where if we don't get him involved soon enough he'll find somewhere else to play in my opinion.

Weird, weird game for him tonight. Was physical and willing all game. Great runs off the ball, but when he got through on goal, and he did a fair few times, he was unusually hesitant in pulling the trigger and it cost him. He genuinely was having a mare in front of goal...for 85 mins of the game. Then he scored a cracker late on, holding off loads of challenges and firing well into the bottom corner from 20 yards. And got another a minute later - defender fell over, he used his pace to lob high over the onrushing keeper, follow the ball coming down and volleyed it in.

Sums him up though. Really, really determined. Like most top strikers, you'll know they'll score eventually if they're on the pitch. Sergio is like that, and not everyone is. I think Delap might have it too. It's a special trait, and I genuinely believe he could have it. Add his pace, physicality, natural aggression and drive and you've got a really special player there potentially. Only young still of course, but we should give this kid a go when he's ready.
