Liam Delap - Ipswich player 2024-25

If we won the League early, I think Pep will rather give Eric Garcia some minutes than giving Delap a chance.

Delap hasn't been given a recent opportunity because his performances do not warrant such.Watch the EDS games (Friday City+) yourself and you won't come out with the above nonsense.

Maybe, but then he wasn’t given any opportunities when he was on his ridiculous scoring run for the EDS either. And I wouldn’t say he played badly against Utd or Liverpool for the EDS, it was literally just the West Ham game where he was pretty crap.

Jesus, Delap is a good prospect, but raw. When you look at how the best young England midfielder in a generation — by common consent — has had to wait his turn, Delap, too, can be patient, I think.
I'd actually much rather see Sergio in in the last few games. I positively hate the idea of him going out like this. The one thing that saddened me on Sunday was seeing him in his tracksuit celebrating with his mates.

His game is miles off first team football with us,he has plenty to learn in terms of releasing the ball/when to shoot/pass and when to conserve energy or make the run.His biggest weakness is his aggression....its great he has so much, but it needs channelling correctly, much of the time he is something of a timebomb and more savvy defenders would take advantage.

Definitely a loan is needed.

I'd like to see him go to Brentford, especially if/when Toney leaves if they don't manage to come up. Or potentially Fulham as they to claw their way back to the prem.

Do you think that's about the level of loan he's ready for? Or could he potentially flex up to a bottom half prem club if there's minutes to be had, maybe Brighton or a newly promoted club?

I know he's a talent but I'm not sure what his current level is, and I think more than anything he needs playing time. From the relatively little I've seen of him I do agree he's a walking red card.

I think championship where defenders wont care for his reputation or strops, and he'll get as much,if not more....than he gives.
Currently i think he has a mans body but a kids head, that level of football will quickly educate him and give him the launch pad to develop and progress.

We just have to find the right club,Fulham would be a good shout.

I don't think he needs a loan, even if it may help.
I agree that his aggression can be a liability but he is very young and time spent with the first team, in games, could help him to realise that it has to be contained. He is extremely talented and can score with either foot, with power, and with his head. He also has pace and strength, on the ball and off it. He can be a real asset but, in my view, should now be eased in with cup appearances and limited minutes.

He's currently like a Rotty on the leash,he is desperate to play and win,i just don't see him sat in the EDS feeding off first team cup scraps,at best, satisfying that desire or developing him as quickly as he would get by playing alongside players week in week out who are happy to mix it with him.

Bring him on when we're 2 goals clear. Him and Foden could be deadly together. Has the physicality to play PL football, and like we've seen with Foden, he'd benefit more from being here than going to some team with worse players & a different style of football.

Who drops off the bench to accommodate him?

Why would they be deadly? Yes he has got goals with the EDS but only a number that you would be satisfied with for a main striker. PL is a big step up with defenders much faster, bigger and experienced. I would see him getting frustrated and losing confidence trying to score 20 a season in the PL. A lower level would allow him to play against men without the spotlight and media attention he would get every game.

He won't even be on the panel if next seasons panel is anything like this seasons.
Any player leaving this year will probably be replaced by someone equally as good.
He needs a good loan.
Not sure what team or manager is most suitable but it should be to an English team.

Norwich isn't a bad club to give Delap experience either. The only problem is loaning him out to another Premier League club might be a step too far at the minute (especially it is to a side that is going to be in a relegation battle)

I think some people are massively overestimating where Delap is gonna end up, the likes of Norwich, Brighton and so forth aren't in the business of trusting their premier league survival to a teenager that they don't even own.

A move to Derby or Stoke or something would probably be as good as we can hope and it would be a good grounding for him I think and as much as he is cnut, rughead at Derby could potentially coach some great tips into him and also Michael O'Neil at Stoke is trying to rebuild that team and Delap has family connections of course that the fans would jump onto.

Agree completely. A bottom half Championship side is probably a best case scenario. We haven’t really gone this route much with our young talent instead sending them more to eredivisie. I wonder if that’s his next step.

We need to get in quick with our loans. Norwich might already have loans lined up.
The max we can loan to premier clubs is 2 and the most a team can loan from Premier league clubs is 2.
A lot of teams might take note of what Fulham did and start loaning them from foreign clubs or English teams outside of the premier league.
