So what is your point here?

Facts are, he was average to shit in the championship. Ipswich made us an offer way above what established forwards can go for at that level giving us instant cash, hes now had another decent year and we've made more money on top.

If he goes to Chelsea and scores 15-20, what are you suggesting that will happen, Real Madrid are going to bid 100m?

He is a decent old style centre forward. He isnt the required standard to play for City, just my opinion.

My point was made in my earlier post. Hes yet another one we have sold cheaply with minimal benefits from their rapid progression. we're either poor negotiators or poor at recognising the potential and we're losing out on a lot of money.

£15m is way above what established forwards go for? really? Birmingham paid the same to bring stansfield to league 1.

We have made hundreds of millions, did Khaldoon not put it at a billion in his interview the other day. That is down to the work by Txiki etc. That money has funded our dominance for the last decade.

The Ipswich deal was very solid. Delap scored about 12 league goals in three years, nearly 70 apps!
You expect us to get 40m from them?
Ipswich took a punt really.

These comments are like what you see from rags who think their players are worth hundreds of millions, they then sell them for fuck all or leave them sat on the bench for years before they disappear. We are better at this game than everyone in world football.

I don't remember there being much battle for his signature at the time for this supposed super talent your making him out to be.

All that being said, I can see we aren't going to agree so may as well just leave it there.

How much we've made from sales is of no relevance to my point. We are a multi-billion business, it's not about bringing in revenue at this level, its about maximising it. A significant portion of our income comes from player sales and we are nowhere near maximising the income from that side.

Your comparison to rags valuing players that are sold for peanuts makes no sense whatsoever when im specifically talking about players we are selling who are then seeing their value increase exponentially.

I'm not making out Delap to be a superstar, its not even about Delap, Delap is just potentially the next of many that we've seen go on to be worth substantially more than we got for them in a very short space of time after selling them. It's not a one off, it's now a habit and that is an area the club as a business has to improve upon and extract more value out of.

What is your point then if its not how much money we have made from sales, When you're moaning about not getting enough money for Delap?

Clubs aren't lining up to pay us huge fees for players, 99.9% of the time they are having to hope and pray continue to develop into what their talent suggests otherwise they have blown their budget. Look at Southampton, we have probably shifted 50 odd million of players to them and none are even anywhere near good enough and if it wasn't for our influence on their board at the time, we wouldn't have got the fees we did.

We do very well out of this market as it is, light years ahead of everyone else. Can we do better, yes, if thats your point. Nothing is perfect but we are as close as you can get.

I'll worry about if we made a mistake on Delap when he actually plays for Chelsea, before he becomes yet another failure at the number 9 spot for them and is out on loan at Brighton in 18mths.

Where do I send my half a crown?!

Delap is not Palmer anymore than Phillips is Rodri!!

You can’t just throw out the names of players and compare them to make some Kreskin-like point!

Time will tell, but you throw out 15-20 goals like it’s a no-brainer!
 
Not sure whether Chelsea is the right move for him. He needs to play most games to keep up the progress he made at Ipswich.

Like with all of our youth team players I hope he does well (but not against us). It would be tougher to wish players well if they went to the rags or dippers!

He did bag 12 goals for a very poor team this season.. mind! Getting that and a few more in a chelsea team could be very possible.
