Liam Delap

Prefer that we would have had the foresight to have known what he’d become and kept him .
He wouldn’t have got the game time to develop. The sale and buy back option was exactly what he needed - previous loans he didn’t exactly set the world on fire

if we don't take this advantage of a buy back knowing we could sell him for profit if he don't make it or settle into our team! I'd say our board are absolutely Brian dead and then the question should be why even Bother with a buyback just put in a bigger sell on clause instead!!
I have noted Madrid when they sell players that came through their academy are putting in 50% sell on. Which equates to 50% ownership of the player. They can still dictate things if the player does well.

Easy enough to be in the queue when Ipswich go down, if we don't grab a forward this window. Remains to be seen if him or the club fancy that.

I’d assume it depends on the player. He’s a star at Ipswich and will have clubs lining up to get him at the end of the season - whether they survive or not - which he’ll have a pick of.

Do City mean that much to him? Is he a blue? Would he want to come back and prove a point? Personally, not sure.

I’d be all over getting him back, mind. Especially with the buyback clause being cheaper than his market value. But if we did, I’d hope it was a genuine reason and that he’d get chances as opposed to a business decision like we did with Angelino.

I agree, but it appears we have no patience with young players. If they aren’t instantly ready made for the first team they don’t really get a chance. It was obvious delap had the talent, why not just loan him out

Lewis being the exception I think because of the position he plays. Others like Harwood Bellis - I’d resign him as well

He'd just been on 3 loans and looked just ok at best in all of em, as well as injury trouble in the last. Perm move was the right call imo, settled team/system/manager to get his game going.

Bellis is the one that really grates on me as you could see was quality and atm better than what we have .

if city think he ticks all the boxes ,he will get plenty of game time . club world cup ,european football fingers crossed .and haaland running on fumes as if he isnt already

I agree. We’re desperate for a young centre back, especially with the amount of injuries we have in defence. We’re being linked with 50/60m centre backs, such as branthwaite or Guehi. For me bellis is better and will be englands first choice. It’s so frustrating.

Maybe, but that seems to be the same with all the brilliant young players we have - they need to be ready made. Sometimes it takes longer to develop.

there aren’t any loan players who’ve come back and been given a chance - hopefully Mcatee changed that.

Sometimes I think we just need to be brave and give them a chance, knowing they won’t be amazing every game, but long term there more talented then what we have. We’re desperate for creativity for example - just give Mcatee a chance

Depends on the trajectory of the kid, Delap is coming up on 100 starts in championship/prem games already now, how many you reckon he'd have if we kept him for those 3 seasons here? 15?

Pep/Club are a big believer in age bracket 18-20 the kid must be in serious competitive games to develop faster, our bench/eds just wont cut it for 90% of em

The rebuild need stage should suit McAtee/Delap/THB's chance alot better but the timing has had to be perfect/luck balanced. If we went big last year instead of next would they be looking at a chance to get in etc?

Be good to see one break the loan and/or buyback deathnote it seems to be so far.

A move to Chelsea wouldn't be the best of career moves either despite the impact of Cole Palmer.

My mates a Blackburn fan - they’ve had both Hardwood Bellis and Branthwaite on loan and he reckons HB is by far the better player.

Why? His former teacher and friends are there. They are in charge of running the club. They don't have an established striker in the squad. His dad is in football business and not a fool.

He'll get limited game time similar to what he will get at City and he is really not the striker they should be targetting if they want to win the Premier League.

Hardwood Bellis is pretty good and has a very solid attitude. Far better on ball and very reliable in the air - defensive and attacking. He will be the next center back for England unless a major injury set back. On top of that he has very good connections in the sport business. Very good personal profile. A dream player for any team.

You are fooling yourself. He will get more game time than here unless Halaand leaves. And his dad and agent will make sure to have it written in the contract. His family is in the football business and they know how things get done.
