I’ll be pretty pissed off if we pay more than a penny to barca. They’re trying to fuck over their best ever player, shows you what sort of club they are. Imagine if we treat Vinnie, Sergio or Silva like this? Messi should leave when he wants to, just like we have done with those three.

100%. Also barca will get rid of a huge chunk from their wage bill

Telegraph carries an article which has the opinion of a sports lawyer who says that a ruling would probably go in favour of Barcelona. I think City could do a deal as I don't think Barcelona can really continue , but it might put City off. A free transfer makes sense but if you add a transfer fee?
And most of the papers were assuring us that CAS would undoubtedly rule in favour of UEFA and uphold our ban.

If roles were reversed, they'd be mouthing off on every platform how we are ruthless cynical and unprofessional, and need to respect contracts (as expected of a new club owned by a state with poir human rights etc) and would insist on getting the player for free, both publicly and behind the scenes.

Can’t believe yet but are we really signing MESSI ???

this will take our club to another level. I think the influence off the pitch will be much more. This will change the media narrative as well. The PL will be marketing the hell out of Messi as he also increases their brand.

Messi accelerates the progress of the club a few years and he’ll probably help us deliver the CL finally. Not to mention all the wonderful football we will be watching. Messi with De Bruyne will not be fair.

Would they run the same opinion, if Utd were in for him?

It's amazing how so many people on social media have suddenly become experts in football contracts and psychologists knowing how the mind of a footballer works in the last 48 hours

Yep, that's the important bit of this whole thing! Messi actually coming to ay football for us is a long distant secondary bonus on the side.

From BBC gossip
" Manchester United have the money to buy Messi, but Borussia Dortmund and England winger Jadon Sancho, 20, is still their main transfer target. (Express) "
I would like to add I could have married Michelle Pfeiffer but I decided on my missus instead :-(

That’s like saying I have a penis and if I wanted to I could have sex with Michelle Pfieffer problem is it’s not going to happen. You have to love the rags.

I think a deal is there to be done if Messi is set on leaving. Barcelona can't keep their jewel captive but they might insist on a fee and therein lies the problem. If Messi wants to play for Guardiola then that strengthens City's hand but if he just wants out then A N Other comes into play.

I doubt after the last 18 months that City have had that anyone at City wants to risk player bans and sanctions by signing him on a free in opposition to La Liga and Barca. That would be asking for trouble, and we should only do that if we're really certain of the legality.

You’re kidding right? Reading the comments sections (I said yesterday he’d be reduced to Danny mills status) he’s already gone one better and is now level with lee Bradbury ,the press still want to please these morons.
Not kidding. 120m Instagram followers is more than United and Liverpool combined. Once the click hunters need the clicks it can start to change. Some journos already saying it would be great for Prem. Imagine the MEN trying to get on board to milk it. This is precisely why he is a game changer for City. He changes the narrative. This is why the old press hacks are shitting themselves.
I think Blue Moon and Esteemed Kompany are in for a hell of a lift off if this happens.
The sniping will continue for sure but don't be surprised to see a change in editorial agenda. They need the clicks.
