That's all fine, but overcome by paying a transfer fee.... so kind of pointless to go into it in such length.
They don't know the ins and outs of the contract so can't really make a reasoned judgement on whether it's comparable to previous cases. I do know that despite FIFA extending the season and making it clear the situation on contracts, UK contract law would take precedent if anything went to court for a player in this country. Would expect it to be the same in Spain. However, Spanish employment laws are all about ensuring people can't be forced to work against their will. If we were to agree a price that reflected his remaining wages at Barcelona under his existing contract that would overcome any legal issues. And that's ultimately where we'll probably get to but outside of courts. No one wants this dragging through the courts.

Bartomeu is hated by Barca fans. He's tried to issue an ultimatum purely so he can turn around and say "Messi could have stayed and I'd have left, but he chose not to". They will not fall for it. They love Messi and they'll always blame the board for him leaving. Too little too late. If he leaves for free they'll blame the board. If they get a transfer fee for them it will not soften the blow, regardless of how much it is. He's a Saint.

If we can pay them some money (to hopefully fund their pursuit of Mane), get Messi but on reduced wages as he's lost some of the pot through the transfer fee, everyone is happy except Barca fans who will only be happy if the board all resign and Messi stays - unlikely/impossible.

If we're open to paying a transfer, Barca will simply ask something obscene from us. They do not want Messi to leave under any condition. I am all for paying him the enormous wages he will command, a sign on fee etc, but not the ridiculous amount that'll be attempted to be extorted.

If he's put in his request to move for free then I'd say he's already had his lawyers go over it in detail, and conclude that he can get away with it legally.

I urge any a City fan who sees shite like that on Twitter to respond with the fact he’s over 25 and in the last year of his contract. So he could buy it out! Meaning this magical €700m buy out is not worth what’s its written on and Barça won’t ever see anything like it. They also neglect to point out FIFA publicly sent every team a notice to say contracts (be them incoming or outgoing players) were to be extended to the end of the new season due to COVID, this was to protect clubs not just players. Will FIFA go back on their own memo? Would CAS or the footballing world tell FIFA they are wrong? I highly doubt it. So like I say, when you see that shit respond accordingly.

He's a footballer not a tourist.

I used to get my hair cut off the same hairdresser as Aguero in Oldham. Apparently the shop/his barber was snowed under in the shop so he couldn't drive down to Aguero's to do his weekly cut, so instead Aguero rolled up to the barbers in his flash motor with Otamendi and Zinchenko. Apparently according to the hairdresser's in the shop they just walked in and sat down waiting for their hair cuts like regular blokes! Hahah!

Apparently there were a few city fans in there at the time just star struck like what the f*** is going on!

Moral to the story, maybe they might see Messi in there at some point!

pic they didn’t want him to go then it wouldn’t of got this far.. They are in financial shit, they could do without his €1m a week wage. They need to overhaul the squad so that wage pays 3-4 new players wages. The only gripe is they assumed they’d get a payday but instead forgot FIFA moved the goal posts and as a result Messi has exercised a clause in his contract.

Do you have anything positive to say about City?

Every time you post it's negative
Sorry mate. I just really don't want us to go into the new season with Kun as our only striker as it would bite us on the arse.

It'd be a dream to sign Leo but i don't want Gabby going the other way.
