Seems to me to be down to the wording on his contract. Messi can leave at the end of each season, if he informs the club in writing before the end of that season, is the accepted situation. Barcelona believe that date to be 10th June, Messi believes it was in August due to the delayed champions league final. He informed them two days before the final.

Without knowing the wording in the contract then impossible to say. If it says before last game in competition Barcelona are involved in, then he can go for free. If it says last Barcelona game, or 10th June specifically, then he can't, or at least has to negotiate it.


Regardless Barcelona have an unhappy player on their hands to deal with. Furthermore, this is their best ever player, a true legend. Damaging his legacy via a sour exit benefits nobody on their end.

Think about it, it can’t give an exact date as the contract was signed 4 years ago. The season can shit dates every year give or take a week so there’s no chance there’s a specific date.

Anyone else struggling to even believe all this? I'm not gonna lie, I've been awake since half six and the main reason is I opened my eyes, looked at my phone, and was immediately reminded that Leo Messi wants to join Man City. Wow.

We should have some sort of moratorium on some of the 'analysis' people seem to be delivering whether it be the clowns in the media talking the move down or the clowns on here talking it down.

Leo Messi wants to join Manchester City. The greatest player ever in the history of the game wants to come and play football at the Etihad. For us.

If we pull this off, I'm not sure there's enough drinks in the world to celebrate with.

I realise you aren’t complaining but to add, even without his pace, he is the best dribbler of the ball in the world, the most proficient assist maker in the world and the most lethal finisher in the world.

We have pace in Sterling and Jesus, what we’ve needed for a long time is someone, aside from Aguero, who doesn’t need 5 chances to score 1 goal. And we are getting the best in the world at that, sometimes he doesn’t even need a chance to score.

Book it; Leo Messi will score over 30 league goals next year if we sign him, Kev will smash, smash, the assist record with him in the team.

He is still pretty quick And he is the best finisher in world football.
