No matter what happens I just can't imagine Messi ever leaving Barcelona. I'm prepared to be proven wrong.

There's never a better time to try.

Barca in turmoil over the Neymar scandal.

Possible hefty fines or competition bans pending.

And about to play us in the Champs league.

Go on Ferran, meet that buy out clause and add another nail in Rosell's wooden box.

I cannot imagine him wanting to leave Barcelona himself. But €250m would go a long way to building a new team to form a basis for the next decade for them. Would it be too much to turn down for them?

The question I ask myself is. If it was City in Barcelona shoes and we owned Messi would you cash in on him now that we have picked Neymar up?

In my view I would cash in on him. I am basing this on his recent injury issues and recent success the club has had. Messi has played constantly for the past 4/5 years and (correct me if wrong) been injury free. The days of a footballer being at his peak at the age of 29/30 have changed and it seems to be a quicker game for younger players. The fact that you have Neymar still gives them a top level striker and more importantly a global marketing tool. The question Barcelona have is if they sold Messi for £150M what would be lost in advertising revenue. Though there is always the argument with a £150M they could bring in 5 world class players.

It is certainly a nice predicament for Barcelona to be in.

and potentially a nice predicament for us too

am i the only one who doesnt want Messi? Yes hes an incredible player, but the entire team at Barca is built around him, and we'd have to do the same - at the moment we have 3 top strikers in the goals and all feeling like a significant part of the set up which has helped with the oveall harmony in the squad - bringing in Messi would destroy that and you could guarantee the number of goals scored by yaya, aguero, negredo and dzecko would all plummet....personally the way things are and hte balance and spirit in the team right now are as good as I've ever seen and they dont need to bring in players who would rock the boat.

I couldn't see Messi playing with Ibra, unless Ibra was moved on. Infact, I couldn't see Messi playing in the French league. He'll sign a new contract or it's is imo. Personally, I think he'll get his new contract.

As long as he has footballing ambitions I can't see him going to France. Too big a step down in quality.

But if the release clause is activated, barca have to inform him and it's then up to messi himself if he stays or goes, not the president...........or have I got it wrong?
