Not really. Legal (and CAS) precedent already shows (2 cases) that the amount would be very slightly more than what was owed to the player in wages over the remainder of the contract. So it’s somewhere between £50-70m if you include the increase on top of the ten months of his salary that is owed.

Even a “worst case” doubling would still make it viable, plus Barca would be waiting 2-4 years to receive a dime from City. That’s why it won’t come to that. We hold literally all the cards as Messi is determined to move. It’s done bar the shouting.

So best case he costs £100m a season for 2 years assuming he is not immortal. Doesn't make any footballing sense.

Lionel Messi is set to take another step away from Barcelona by not showing for training on Monday, with the Argentina international of the belief that his contract with the club is over. [

Barcelona presidential candidate, Toni Freixa: “I think a move to #ManCity is likely. With Pep, Messi experienced his most brilliant years. It would be logical if they worked together again. City also has the financial means to build a team that can win anything."

Barcelona presidential candidate, Toni Freixa: “As I have heard from several sides, the decision the player [Lionel Messi] has come to is one that has matured over several years and is irrevocable. I don't believe that there is any going back." [via
