Sure La Liga certainly on the side of Barcelona because they realize how terrible it would be for Messi to leave.

As a Barcelona fan, I don’t think he will ever play for Barcelona again. But all of the news we follow in Spain that includes members of press who have direct line with his camp, is that Messi is very tense and very concerned because he assumed that he would have an overwhelming amount of support that would crush Bartomeu into a resignation and at that point he would have to negotiate with execs that would take over temporarily. Those folks would likely make a sensible business agreement and it would be very simple.

None of this has happened and now his camp have realized that they don’t have enough leverage with the clause in his contract and they are starting to get anxious. This his fathers overnight trip in private jet.

If indeed he was free or the felt they had a compelling case, they would not even have to sit down and attempt to negotiate.

Barcelona will not budge without a considerable amount of money and or players of significance. I’m not certain who’s it will end but it will not end in court because Man City have already made it clear that they can’t take the risk of signing him.

I see Barcelona taking a couple of good players and cash, or it doesn’t get done.

Barcelona already had a financial plannin place to make the numbers work prior to the Messi news. 100 million for Messi isn’t going to convince them because they will likely make that money with him in the stands on merchandising and sponsorships.

We shall see
Cool story bro.

I think Bartomeu will not negotiate and can't - for the reason that it would be like an admission that Messi very probably might be a free agent or at least that a jury would offer Barca a lower result than negotiations..

In the moment Bartomeu agrees to negotiate an exit he is risking that the compensation of rumoured cash+player will be melting in the sun from day to day. and he would be in a very low position. And that man is very much about pride I guess. HE wants to be the boss.

If Bartomeu stays we only can sign a new contract with Messi and be well prepared for a legal case. IMO. I would do it.

Well you have not given Messi's camp much time.

Messi probably does not want to be pursued by barcelona and maybe calculating that barcelona will have no alternative but to back down as the transfer window approaches. I don't see how barcelona can get out of this without losing Messi for £100m or so max.

It however may take time to effect so we shall see.

If you don't think Messi will play for barca again then the logical conclusion is that barca should accept a limited fee otherwise he will leave you next year on a free.

Yep theyd be mad not to take even 50 plus Garcia, they may end up with nothing. But Bartomeu seems to have made this personal and lost all sense of detached business perspective

Sure I seen somewhere today that Garcia had confirmed that he will be at City next season?

Sorry, found it.....said he wants to stay.

It does and there would have been no inkling that something like this would happen of course. But it still begs the question of why they didn't frame the clause as "10 days after the official season end". I'm no lawyer but I'd say the intent was pretty clear. But a contract is a legal document and there is no guarantee a court would see it that way.

Barcelona were still in CL on June 10th. Would they have wanted Messi to terminate his contract then or would they have claimed that the season wasn't over.

I've just been for a few pints with him, I told him he can sleep on our couch until he finds a place local, he seemed quite chilled but the translator wasn't the best. The overall vibe I was getting from him is that he can't wait to get into that sky blue shirt and start doing some damage when the season starts
