If you step back, this has played out exactly how it has on every other occasion. It felt different this time and its a really bizarre way of doing things but, it's still heading the same way. We always apply too much logic and reason to these situations and it raises expectations.

FWIW I think he genuinely wanted to go and felt he was free. He probably legally isn't, and Barto won't sell, so they'll frame it now that he wants to stay for a year bla bla bla.

If and it's a big if messi has decided to stay we should pull our 5 yr contract of the table and tell him it's this year or not at all or the contract is now 4 years but at half the figures first qouted

We've heard of Bartemous's bluff of paying the 700 million euros and wanting 2 years extension. Now it's Messi's camp's turn to leave on a free plus the added leaving bonus at the end of next season. Haha this is all to look good in public isn't it... beautiful. It's all to come to a negotiation that's it.

Messi staying at Barca benefits no one. Barca cannot rebuild and move on from the messi era, Messi is stuck in a team that will win nothing next year and hopefully, if he doesnt come this summer City move on and end any interest.

If he's decided to give it one more year, then there's nothing to be done but move on. Surprised. I think this was his last opportunity for a move to a club that will challenge for the Champions League.

Real Madrid are also in problems so they could still compete domestically.

I would be very surprised if he stays.

I can't imagine it working out well at all.

In fact if I was in charge at Barca, I would absolutely not want him to.
