Yes, This makes sense. Again taking all the news with a pinch of salt ( The 5 years deal and His father commenting he can stay) if this somehow comes out to be true then our existing plan for Messi should be thrown out of the window.
We shouldn't not be offering some 250 million to a 34-year-old even if that individual is Messi!

We've heard of Bartemous's bluff of paying the 700 million euros and wanting 2 years extension. Now it's Messi's camp's turn to leave on a free plus the added leaving bonus at the end of next season. Haha this is all to look good in public isn't it... beautiful. It's all to come to a negotiation that's it.

It is turning into a game of who is the real bad guy now. Messi reportedly being prepared to stay unwillingly, for the sake of the club, changes the dynamic.

and even if it is genuine, trying putting myself in messi's shoes, hardly difficult to understand. Not that i think it IS true, as of yet.

We can't do that until his break from Barcelona is irrevocable, or we have permission from his club. No doubt he is aware there are opportunities elsewhere.

I find ot hard to believe that Messi can go from such an extreme position to another in 24 hours. Perhaps his father has a proposal from Barcelona and just wants to be polite. It doesn't look good though.

I don't think City will be interested at age 34. it's already questionable on purely footballing grounds. Surely now or never.

I would be very surprised if he stays.

I can't imagine it working out well at all.

In fact if I was in charge at Barca, I would absolutely not want him to.

It's almost as if threatening to leave on a free in 9 months time, taking €100m in wages and €100m in a possible fee away, is a negotiating ploy designed to make Bartomeu behave, or else get ready to personally pay millions when the club's budgets don't balance.
