Can we be clear on one thing. City have kept their council, said nothing in public, leaked nothing except for not denying an interest, so how anyone thinks we have been played, is beyond me. I suspect we were interested if on a free but certainly would not be paying anything like some of the figures quoted. Bear in mind that the whole branding/sponsorship argument is not quite the same in an empty stadium, do the idea of paying 100/150 plus for a transfer fee in the midst of uncertainty was always difficult to believe. Consider the pandemic takes hold again, football halted, Messi now 34 etc etc
