Just said similar on Twitter. How many millions are they in debt? And they want to keep a player against his will and lose even more money?

City chuck in a £100m bid, they'd be mad to just dismiss it.

Does not make financial sense whatsoever

I’d agree but I don’t think City would pay enough to tempt them. Can’t see them going for more than 70 or 80m and Garcia and I don’t think Barto would sell at that. I could be wrong but all those rumours of us paying 100-150m for him just goes against everything we seem to stand for in terms of fees, even for the goat.

800m but they just took another 800m loan. Fuck them though I hope they drown in debt

What did his dad actually come over to do? Do we assume he tried to convince Bartomeu to let him go for free?

Can’t only be me who actually thinks he might still end up at City this summer...

Maybe wishful thinking but surely it would make more sense for Barca to get rid this summer rather than lose him on a free next summer?

So basically in summary Messi virtually runs Barcelona?
He can say what he wants and sticks 2 fingers up to authority.

I just hope this doesn't become like the rags annual pursuit of CR7 / Sneijder which I have personally laughed at a lot.

Does it? Not many have mentioned how much the image rights are linked to Barca and La Liga. How much would this cost to sponsorship deals simply based on ‘Messi’?

Messi leaving would have a huge financial cost, actually enhanced when Ronaldo Moved to Juve, but especially at short notice.

Barca said he had earned the right to leave, under his terms, but then reneged on the promise. Messi, made it clear but was then denied, who has what to gain?

Messi will get paid whatever happens, what will happen to those who are basically guarantor on major deals?

Still not convinced this has completely played out. Bartomeu could be personally liable for tens of millions of losses if he loses the election. By keeping an unhappy Messi, he'll have to pay him for another season, plus pay a supposed €65m loyalty bonus plus allow him to leave on a free in the summer. So let's say that's €165m at least.

By selling him now, he could potentially get €100-125m in fees then save that €165m. So Barca could be nearly €300m better off selling him now. A company director has a legal duty to act in the best interests of the company, which he isn't doing.

Be interesting to see who blinks first.
Can't see much Corporate Governance going on in that particular organisation.
