I was desperate to get Messi but singing him in the current economic climate would have been a total PR disaster.

Paying someone half a million a week whilst businesses collapse and people lose jobs on a mass scale would not have sat comfortably with many blues I know as well as the working/middle class fella/lady.

I haven’t considered it but I can see that happening. In his autobiography, one of the reasons he left Barcelona was his “distaste” for the hierarchy at the time. A hierarchy more friendly to Mr Guardiola might be more to his liking.

Given we haven't seen any movement at all in Barcelona's or Messi's position, i just can't see this happening, the last 10 days of ths window is just not enough to pull a deal like that off.
