That wasn't the principle reason for him wanting to leave, but that the board of Bartomeu had no coherent sporting strategy so it definitely can make a difference. The question is how much and if the player simply has tired of the constant drama

I wouldn't begrudge him one bit to feel fatigued from it but equally would not surprise me if he wanted to continue under Laporta or Font's leadership - we'll see

Without sounding biased Barcalona have dug themselves a massive hole that will take far to long to fill & re build not just a competitive side in Europe but also La Liga.

1. Bad management & ownership
2. Playing squad with massive problems, age & there trust
3. Debt & no money to splash
4. A final 3-4 years project Messi needs

City can deliver everything above & more, they have an owner who can offer him the world & chairman who understands & would deliver then we have a manager who he trusts & cares about.

Add Tixi & Soriano, Aguero & a project in USA that Messi can carry on his legacy

Then a very talented City squad & academy to work with

How can this current Barcalona comedy show be better??

I get the sense that Real Madrid and Barca - especially for Spanish/Portuguese-speaking players - are the dream destinations - the ultimate validation of worth is to play for one of these two clubs.

Notwithstanding the recent Bara meltdown, the pull towards Barcelona continues - Messi seems to have had enough - but Garcia, it seems, is still enticed.

This though is simply my impression - FCBarca is much better able to comment on the above.

Please don’t validate the Swiss fanboy. Your opinion is as valid as his, if not more so. You might be capable of common sense, unbiased reasoning.

I think we mostly agree - by diversion of resources - let's say we sign Messi. But that we might have instead signed - I'm throwing out some names without necessarily having any realistic expectation that we have a chance to sign them - Jaou Felix - Erling Haaland - Kylian Mbappe.

Would you rather have signed Messi than one of those three? Or some other young player with similar potential identified by our management?
===
I agree that Barca is at fault for alienating its top players - still - Messi is Barca - through and through - it's a shame to think he'd leave Barca under such circumstances.
I am sure if we could've signed Haaland, Mbappe or Felix we would've. Getting one of the next stars would've always been in at the discussion table, however, its said that Haaland doesn't want to play in England (we enquired for him), Mbappe wants Madrid and Felix has signed a 6 year contract with a ridiculous buy out clause.

At this moment, there are no other youngsters with this much hype as these three, so that is also out.

Messi gets us where we want to be as a brand and even at 34, he is easily the best in the world.

From what we know, the Messi Mambo is a different pot of cash so I don't think we are in a situation whereby we miss out on Haaland or Mbappe because of that.

I don't believe we will sign any of those players, and its just because unfortunately they will have other options. You can argue if signing for Real is better than City but sadly it still has the pull. I think we could sign Messi though, I really believe that whereas I don't see us anywhere near the other players.

I see what you mean and I have nothing but respect for what Pep did there and the team he had etc, was incredible to watch but they have grown to become very dislikable and after some of the beatings they have given us, fuck em.

@FCBarca is a glory hunting patronising twat who is not from barcelona so has absolutely no idea!

Barca 15,10 years ago is not the Barca of today

If Messi does leave then life without the best player thats been imo can only spell more trouble

I have a soft spot for Barcalona always loved watching Xavi & Inesta along with Lionel those 3 were just the best ever

In the last 2 years my excitement for La Liga has changed & I believe its in a worse state than Italian football

The people in charge of Barca & the horrible twat Tebas now are going to feel the pain if Messi leaves & I cant wait for that to happen

If the news is true then Barca have to make some important decisions, free in the Summer or go in January for maybe £15-20m + save £25m in wages who knows?
Barca already would have had there money for shirts & sponsors unless they get penalised from NIKE etc?

So maybe Garcia & £10m handshake?

Messi dialemma: Walking or not walking

"passive" space gaining while walking:

vs.
Letting opponent run through freely:

But then again, there was a time when Pep managed Bayern, they totally dominant bundesliga, and the team who run least in the whole bundes liga at that year was... Bayern! (I forget the link, too lazy to google again).
And then, the other years Bayern still dominanted bundesliga, but they were among the top running team.
I guess it's just so many ways to win games.

P/S: I really like Messi, but this world is so confused right now.
I'm not sure he would be a good addition for our squad or not. But when we say "Yes" to something, it means we are saying "No" to something else.
