Note to self, Lionel Messi at 70 per cent is still greater than any player I will have witnessed in my City lifetime.

With the greatest respect to all those City players who were obviously a bit special.

When my 13-year-old son is old and grey, with hopefully grandkids of his own, he would be able to say he saw one of the greatest players to ever kick a ball play for City.

We all want to keep winning, but let's not forget why we all love football in the first place?

I was there when Kinky ran through the entire Southampton defence, I can't even remember the result now.

I was there at my first derby game to see Mick McCarthy bullet home a header against United.

I was there for the 10-1. I was there for Clive Wilson heading in on Boxing Day to beat the mighty Liverpool.

These are all snapshots burnt into my memory.

They are moments in time and had nothing to do with winning league titles or glory.

It is the sheer joy of just watching football. To see someone like Messi play in a City shirt, regardless of the dividend, is to have something live long in the memory and encounter true snapshots of true greatness.

Don't turn your nose up, remember where we have come from, what it has taken to get us here.

Couldn’t agree more.

Seeing Messi walk out in a City shirt would be one of the best feel good and exciting moments I’ve ever seen supporting City. I’d be in the ground early for the warm up! Can only imagine how big the grin on my face would be.

I think certain people are in for a positive surprise as to the impact he would have on the club.

Pretty sure Marsh was playing in the second division when we signed him, with a style of football completely at odds with the way City played.

Messi is the best player in the world, perfectly suited to the way we play, and we’re getting him for 0.

The comparison to the Marsh signing is laughable.
That's what I'm saying. Read everything I said. The cons are altering the team ethic and Jesus' pressing. Didn't I say that Marsh is not Messi. MARSH IS NOT MESSI. It's saying that bringing someone else into a winning team can alter the dynamic

Yeah, I was agreeing with you re Messi not being Marsh. There’s always a risk, but it’s a hell of a stretch to say signing literally the best player in the world, for free, is risky. It’s about 1% risk and 99% upside from where I’m sitting.

It is beyond me how someone can accuse Messi of not being motivated after winning his last cl 10 years ago. You do not get in the position of being considered one of the greatest players to ever grace the planet if not extremely motivated at all times. Messi would improve us on and off the pitch for years to come. The fact that he has "just" won six ballon dors is a disgrace and for me only hightlight his dominance. The standards he has set the last 10-15 years are unquestionable, and are highly unlikly to be matched any time soon.

Get the lad to Manchester!

It is because Messi refuses to accept second best that he even considers leaving behind the only real life he has ever known.

He is willing to sacrifice the stability of his wife and kids, move to a country he doesn't know, play in a league that is unforgiving in so many ways, just to continue winning.

Your argument was his legs can't be the same, and I don't think you will have many people disputing he's not peak 27 anymore.

However, to suggest he doesn't want to run because his hunger to succeed is already diminished, because of everything he has won, isn't borne out in his temptation to come to City.

If it is now about money, he can get it in Paris or the US, stay at Barca and just take the easy life.

Coming to City, that strikes me as a man who hasn't lost his desire to keep winning, adding to his legacy.

A motivated Messi, surrounded with the players we have, is tantamount to having a footballing nuclear weapon in your arsenal.
I find it absolutely staggering, that some Blues are saying they don't want him here, it's ridiculous. Maybe they just want to appear different, or edgy.

Damn man.

Pep said he wants Messi to finish his career at Barcelona. You don't believe him but you prefer to believe rumors on City Xtra.

You want him so much you don't even believe the best coach in the world and actually the coach of our club i can't do nothing for you man.
I have statistics but it's in french and i doubt you understand french(yes i am french). I did watch almost every Barça games for more than 10 years and i'm even on the french forum of Barça called " Le Clan". You really don't know what you are talking about. Having Messi in your team is in the same time a gift and a curse and yeah running is important and talent isn't enough. Messi was great because besides his talent he was running like Iniesta and Xavi were running. In modern football you can not win just with your talent. Look at Barça after 2015, they had Messi, Suarez, Iniesta, Neymar, Dani Alves,Pique basically the best players in the world. Why they start loosing? Because they weren't hungry no more and stop running like they used too especially Messi.

You have to understand modern football is about balance and every details is important. For exemple a left back who doesn't have the help of his winger is fucked. Offensively i have no doubt about his success and i'm pretty sure he will score a lot of goals but defensively we will be fucked.
Don’t tell me what I have to understand or where I get information from that we are in for him.

If you genuinely believe Pep would rather Messi stayed at Barca then you’re a greater fool than I thought.

Post the link. Even if it’s in French.
