Pretty sure it's already been confirmed that for accounting purposes, it'd still be charged over the length of the actual contract.

But that's a ten year deal - you cant pay them for 8 years when they are not employed... Effectively after 2 years the players wouldn't be able to move clubs they'd be tied to Barca for another 8 years - on shit wages. Barca need to sell Coutinho back to the dippers for half the 1.8 billion they bought him for!

There was nothing stopping them. I think I remember Bartomeu saying there was one On the table. You wouldn’t normally let any player get into the last year without renewing let alone Messi.

No knowledge, just read it somewhere. Think it was Tebas that confirmed it a few weeks ago. Seem to remember PSG tried something similar in deferring either Mbappe's or Neymar's wages and UEFA jumped on it too? Might be making that up though :-)

Not football rules - basic national tax rules. moneys earned have to be accounted for and taxed in the year they refer to.
