They are seriously desperate to keep him aren't they?
Laporta said (think it was February" he was going to make Messi an offer he can't refuse.....5 month later?.....still not signed.
Couldn't of been that good an offer.
I really don't think they are. I think Laporta is comfortable with him leaving and has been for a while. Just can't/won't admit it. Till it reaches a point the cules, media and sponsors are also comfortable with it. This is the dance to get them all there, he is doing whatbhe does best, selling it to everyone before they are ready to buy it.
Using that as a way to also really cut back on what bartomeu left doesn't hurt either.
And if he Does pull itnoff and keep messi, looks all the more impressive and a man of his word.
If Laporta had really wanted it, he would have pulled out all the stops at that last international break when Messi didn't go anywhere, and the financial situation hadn't yet come to light. He could have had messi all signed up and sealed, before the likes of aguero, and co arrived, before tebas set his stall out. And, of course, if Messi wanted to stay as is also claimed.
Combine them 9 with these in this link,and that's 25 since 2018,many of them only spending 2-3 seasons there....they been a bit stupid with their spending eh.

The one reason why Messi last year wanted to leave Barca was to win trophy's with a competitive team & one last crack at the CL.Looks like they are trying to offload up to 9 players,according to this.

Now we hear Laporta is of loading players to fund a new contract for Messi. So if he does manage to raise the funds they will have a squad made up of a few quality players & the rest made up of kids.
That will not be a trophy winning squad.
In the next few days we will see If Messi has signed a new contract with Barca to have some fun in the sun or whether to be ambitious &make the transfer to a top club.
