There is an election very soon though in 2016 and it could be even sooner if things descend into further chaos. A deal like this will certainly not happen until the summer and if elections are held then, that could be absolutely pivotal on any deal happening.
Don't forget, the current president Bartomeu only came about because the previous one Sandro Rosell resigned, Bartomeu was never elected president although was vice-president previously. There are a lot of rumors that ex-president Joan Laporta is going to stand again who was their most successful president in history and he also precided over most of Messi's rise. I would of thought given the guy is a nutcase, very outspoken and a typical politician, losing Messi would be something quite high on his list of priorities to sort. Certainly by saying he would make keeping Messi a priority would win him many votes and Messi was very fond of the Laporta regime. Funnily enough and ironically the Laporta regime was very successful because it also contained a chief executive by the name of Ferran Soriano and a director of football in Txiki Begiristain.
