so Laporta confirmed according to their calculations they can register their 4 new signings.........then stated "I hope there will be no problems". what a tin pot organisation

This whole Messi situation feels like some drawn out PR bullshit to me.

Both Barca and Messi have somehow found themselves in a situation where Laporta and Messi cannot be blamed for his exit. They both wanted him to stay but La Liga and Bartomeu have scuppered this 'dream'.
My thoughts exactly. His contract being allowed to expire. Messi not having another club lined up for when his contract ended, nor a Barca renewal in place.

Then weeks later it's announced Messi & Barca have reached a reduced wage agreement, only for this to be binned because Barca can't afford him??? It stinks of a game of "Who blinks first" between Barca & La Liga.

Hopefully City will pursue Kane & a decent left back & just keep a quiet watching brief on Messi's situation. I feel we're like a love fool who keeps falling for the pretty girl who keeps batting her eyelashes at us, only to repeatedly turn us down when asked for a date, because her intention was always to use us to make her on/off fella jealous.

Enough already!

You can be cynical because of the past, sure. To actively not want him because of some made up notion like he's too old, past it, too much of a circus, he's turned us down in the past and various other misnomers being bandied about makes no sense to me.
There's a difference between turning us down and using us as ammunition in his annual contract negotiations with Barca.

Why is everyone taking the Messi news personally? Lots of anger directed at him on the thread today.

Did he turn us down before? Probably but should we turn into dicks and act like we don’t want arguably the best player to kick a ball turn out in blue.

Signing Messi will be an amazing coup for the club. If it benefits city on any level then I am all for it.

So just a sidebar question but Barca have stated today that the wages last season were 110% of revenue.

Given the fact that they also owe money still on transfers in, and the loans taken out; why the hell are they not being hounded by FFP in the same way we were/are.

This stinks and I really do hope Spanish football is ripped apart now starting with Barca.

European ban needed here as well as Messi to city !

Then they ask for permission to break ffp…?
